During an annual inspection, a shake test flagged a broken maxi spring rattling inside the chamber. Because this component controls the parking brake on the wheel end, ignoring it isn't an option.

THIS IS WHY REGULAR MAINTENANCE ISN'T OPTIONAL

A truck rolled into the shop with brakes that were completely "steel on steel." No pad left, just metal grinding against metal—which means zero stopping power when you actually need it.
