Exciting news. As much as iRacing has been a nice replacement and will continue, it not the real thing. Looks like we will be heading back to the track early August!
**ATTENTION LATE MODEL TEAMS**
We have 2 races scheduled for the shortened season! The dates are August 8th and August 22nd.
What does this mean?
Friday practice is still a go! Late models will have the track for practice from 1:00pm to 5:00pm!
Payouts? There are some talks happening but with the limited amount of fans allowed at the track, we will see what will happen. Our thought is at the very least, the back gate will be reduced and we will ask everyone to put $100 in before the race day begins at tech. We will then divide that money up accordingly at the end of the day. We ask that if you have any old sponsor decals from previous years associated with the series, to please put them on in support and mention them whenever you have a chance. Lets build for 2021!
How will the day look and how will payouts work?
We are talking about doing a split 100 or 150 lap main (pending car count). The first half of the event will be held right after intermission and the second half will be held at the end of the night. This will give teams a chance to tune their cars and make adjustments. We will find a fun and creative way to invert the field for the second event. We will be taking the lowest average finish of the events and the winners of the events will be paid out, with other prizes being associated to 2nd and 3rd.
One set of tires will be allowed for the day. The tires you qualify are the tires you race on. **for both main races in the feature.” In the case where someone gets a flat or a damaged tire, it will have to be reported to the tech official to be approved to put a used tire on as its replacement.
We will be still running the WSA Rulebook. We want as many cars to come on out and have some fun. If you have any questions or concerns about the rules, please inform Matthew Stauffer. Please text him. His phone number is: +1 (306) 261-6714
There will also be a body referee for ABC Rules. We will be using these couple races to give local teams and other teams a chance to check their cars to the template and specifications. No one will be penalized unless extreme body modifications are noted. Please use this time to prepare your car for the 2021 season.
The events will be on Sasktel Max Local on Demand and potentially on pay per view as well. We are going to do our best to ensure all of your sponsors get as much exposure as possible!
We really want to put on a good show for the limited fans/sponsors in attendance and for the fans watching on TV. This is a great opportunity to show the fans and our organization why we are one of the main attractions at the Raceway. Lets bring out the most cars and have a blast doing so. We know you all must be itching to hit the track again!
Let us know if you are in! We want to start promoting ASAP. If you have a picture of your car, please send them over! To confirm if you are in, please let either Matt Stauffer, Dave Bone, Jared Reddekopp, Trevor Hannay, or Matthew Shirley know!
Please send this to all of the late model teams you know.
Sincerely,
WSA Committee
