Today Kirby and I are celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary. ❤️
We decided to celebrate with lunch at the — House Party on Victoria Avenue — and we left feeling like we needed to tell people about this place.
We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, River, who took the time to show us around and share the story and vision behind House Party. Two years ago, she had a dream to create a restaurant inside a home — a place where people could walk through the door and feel like they were coming home to gather around the table with family.
Built inside a home this restaurant’s atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. It’s had such a unique feel, super clean, excellent hospitality and the food was stellar. In fact Kirby being a spaghetti and meat sauce lover ordered just that and is still raving about it his meal.
But what really stayed with Kirby and me was hearing River’s story and seeing how much hard work, courage, vision and prayer has gone into creating this place. There is something pretty special about meeting a young entrepreneur who had a dream, was brave enough to take the risk, and then worked incredibly hard to see it through.
After 36 years of marriage and many years of owning a small business ourselves, Kirby and I know that behind every small business is a person who took a chance on a dream. And sometimes the best thing we can do is tell other people when we find a good one.
So this is our little anniversary shout-out and thank-you to River. ❤️
If you’re looking for somewhere new to eat, go give House Party on Victoria Avenue a try. Go enjoy the food, enjoy the beautiful atmosphere, and support someone who has poured her heart into what she has created.
River, thank you for making our 36th anniversary lunch such a lovely experience. We are cheering you on! ❤️
