Why does my car jerk when shifting? ⚙️

Your car should shift gears smoothly, so if you notice a sudden jerk, hesitation, or hard shift, it's worth paying attention to. Transmission fluid problems, worn components, or issues with transmission controls could be responsible. Sometimes, engine performance problems can even feel like transmission trouble.

A little hesitation might not seem like a big deal at first, but unusual shifting can be an early warning sign of a developing problem. Rather than guessing what's wrong, having the vehicle properly diagnosed can help determine the cause and prevent unnecessary repairs.

Summer storms can roll in fast. 🌧️🚗

A few simple habits can make a big difference when the roads get wet.
Check your wipers, turn on your headlights, slow down, and give the vehicle ahead of you a little extra space. Stay alert and drive for the conditions.

The car repair you weren't expecting 💸

Nobody likes an unexpected repair bill, especially when your car seemed perfectly fine the day before. Whether it's a transmission problem, a major engine repair, or something you didn't even know could break, some repairs leave a lasting impression on your wallet.

Every driver has a story, and we want to hear yours! What's the most expensive car repair you've ever had to pay for? And looking back, would you have fixed the car again or traded it in?

Can you drive with bad power steering fluid? ⚠️

Your car might still drive with old or contaminated power steering fluid, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. Over time, the fluid can break down or become contaminated, affecting how smoothly your steering system operates and potentially causing damage to the power steering pump and other components.

If you notice whining noises when turning, stiff steering, or fluid that looks unusually dark or dirty, it might be time for an inspection. Ignoring these signs could lead to more expensive repairs down the road. Keeping your power steering fluid in good condition helps your steering system work the way it should!

What makes you book an appointment immediately?

Your car starts doing something it definitely wasn’t doing yesterday. Which one has you calling the shop first?

🔊 A new clunking noise
👃 A strange burning smell
⚠️ A warning light
💧 A mystery leak
📳 A new vibration while driving

Some warning signs are easier to ignore than others — but changes in how your vehicle sounds, smells, feels, or drives are often worth paying attention to.

Which one would make you book right away?

Is your car ready for colder weather?

Cold weather can expose problems that weren’t obvious during the warmer months.

Before temperatures drop, it’s a good idea to check:
🔋 Battery condition
🛞 Tires and tread
🌡️ Coolant
💨 Heat and defrost
🧹 Wipers and washer fluid

Catching a weak battery or worn tires now can save you from dealing with the problem on a freezing morning.

In true OK Tire 2.0 fashion, this year’s regional meetings took on a bit of a different look.

For our first-ever OK Tire Summit, members and partners throughout the West gathered in Calgary, Alberta for a few days of updates, training and fun. 🟡

After a series of educational presentations from partners, Groupe Touchette, Blackhawk Tire North America, Toyo Tires Canada, Bridgestone Canada and NAPA Auto Parts, as well as an inspiring speech from guest speaker, Tyler Smith, the team pivoted to an exciting tradeshow to cap off the event.

Staying true to our community roots, we had some friendly competition to help raise funds for a member of the South Okanagan OK Tire family (and their community) who lost everything in this summer’s devastating wildfires.

Thank you to all attendees for helping making our inaugural event such a success. 👏

We’re ready to take on the East!
