Well where do I start, i spent the week thinking of what to say or post and this is the best I can do, so bear with me.
2024 started off rough, first race day blew up the engine in my truck and broke transmission in my car,
Spent the next two weeks fixing both and came back swinging, the car had an off season and lots of handling hurdles to overcome, and it was just getting to be to much to try and run both at the level I want them at. So after a lot of thinking the decision was made to park the car and focus all my time on my truck.
Spent the rest of the season battling a lot of hard races against all the great drivers in the truck class. And it all came down to the last weekend, went into the week 14 points down from first place behind my dad, we spent Saturday morning working on his truck so we could go run door to door. The first race of the weekend I beat dad and gained a point , second race we go out and dad beats me and gains the point back , going into the feature I knew I had to do extreme well if I wanted a chance to win the championship. The race starts and get behind my dad and following him through the pack and we are going back to front, but unfortunately couple laps in coming out of four two trucks hook bumpers get a little loose and get into dad, causing him to spin towards the wall. And unfortunately not being able to finish the night. Not the way I wanted to gain the lead but after the restart I got out front and took home the feature win for the night.
Sunday morning we are all tired from staying up all night fixing three trucks, at this point I just need to finish right behind dad all day and I have it, well first heat dad beats me to the front of the pack and I finish right behind him, second heat same thing, now feature race comes I have to finish within three spots of dad or kiss my lead good bye and the championship, the race starts and dads gone back to front in what felt like a lap, Iâm stuck in the back for almost half the race starting to panic haha. Well I started picking off positions and managed to finish two spots behind him, it cemented my championship but only by two points.
At the end of the day it didnât matter to me who won, my dad full well deserved the championship but same time I couldnât give it to him, we are definitely very competitive people and a little over the top when it comes to each other, but I wouldnât have it any other way. If it wasnât for my dad I wouldnât push myself as hard as i do or if I would even still be racing. He raised me at the track or in the garage working on the racecar, and I try to pass those same memories onto my daughter, my favorite part of racing is before we roll onto the track is giving my dad the đ¤ as we roll out, he always will be my favorite driver, and all my wins will always be for him. So itâs not just my championship, itâs his as well.
So Dave Kindred thank you for another amazing year of racing, and in the spring you have a rear bumper to come straighten haha,
To all my sponsors and crew thank you for all the support and help I couldnât have done with out you guys
