“Rollin coal” isn’t as cool as it once “was”! 💨

Customer complaint was it blows more black smoke than it used to and feels sluggish.

We hooked up our boost leak tester, and had an immediate red flag… not building any pressure in the intake system. Searched around for a major leak and found nothing.

Hooked up the smoke machine to see if we could find the leak in a more hidden area… still nothing.

Questioning the EGR system at this point…

Sure enough when we hooked the boost leak tester up it pushed all the smoke out the exhaust and confirmed the EGR valve was stuck open, allowing flow from the intake system direct out to the exhaust on this LMM Duramax.

Locking lug nut FYI!

If you have locking lug nuts like in Pic 1…
it’s our policy to loosen them by hand, like in Pic 2…so you don’t end up having the key sheared off in your lug nut like Pic 3…and left with no easy or quick way to remove them.

These locking lug nuts are not designed for the abuse an impact puts on them, especially loosening them off.

BUT! We have multiple extraction tools that work AWESOME if it ever happens to you.

What a difference!

These intake valves were heavily coated with carbon buildup before a walnut blast cleaning. Yes, real walnuts are crushed down and used as a cleaning media!

The second photo shows the results afterwords, which we actually got even cleaner with a solvent soak and another walnut blast cleaning.

What a difference!

Can anybody guess the vehicle make by the intake port design!? 🤔

It’s more than just “balancing a tire”

Helping this Acadia stay cool before it heats up next week!

We did a full evacuation of the AC system, installed rear AC line block offs (rear evaporator core is a common failure on these), leak tested, then charged the system and had it cooling as it should again!

Right now we can only work with R134a but we are working on options for the newer 1234yf systems as well.
