Rest well, Mayor Bob. A long time customer and friend of ours. Sending lots of love to the family.

IN MEMORY | The City of Port Colborne is mourning the passing of former Mayor Bob Saracino, a dedicated community leader and longtime advocate for our city.

Bob devoted decades of his life to serving Port Colborne, including nearly two decades as Mayor. Even after his time in elected office, his passion for the community never faded. He continued to be an active and familiar presence, supporting local organizations, causes and initiatives that mattered deeply to him.

His commitment to Port Colborne and the people who call our city home leaves a lasting legacy. He will be remembered for his dedication, passion and many contributions to our community.

The City’s flags are lowered to half-mast in recognition of Bob’s passing and his years of service to Port Colborne.

Our deepest condolences go to Bob’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be deeply missed.

For 63 years, Dave and Carol Steuernagel have driven from the US to their cottage in Long Beach, passing our iconic “Man in the Tires” along the way.

On a recent visit, they decided he deserved a little upgrade! Noticing his outfit had become a bit tired over the years, they surprised us with some brand-new clothes to give our roadside landmark a fresh new look.

It’s gestures like these that remind us how special this community truly is. What started as a simple roadside display has become a familiar sight for generations of travelers, and we’re incredibly grateful for the people who care about it as much as we do.

Thank you, Dave and Carol, for your kindness, thoughtfulness, and for helping put a smile on our faces. You made our day a whole lot brighter. 💙

The Man in the Tires has been turning heads for decades—and thanks to friends like you, he’ll keep doing it for many years to come!
