For 63 years, Dave and Carol Steuernagel have driven from the US to their cottage in Long Beach, passing our iconic “Man in the Tires” along the way.
On a recent visit, they decided he deserved a little upgrade! Noticing his outfit had become a bit tired over the years, they surprised us with some brand-new clothes to give our roadside landmark a fresh new look.
It’s gestures like these that remind us how special this community truly is. What started as a simple roadside display has become a familiar sight for generations of travelers, and we’re incredibly grateful for the people who care about it as much as we do.
Thank you, Dave and Carol, for your kindness, thoughtfulness, and for helping put a smile on our faces. You made our day a whole lot brighter. 💙
