🍂🦃 THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY CLOSURE 🦃🍂

Just a friendly heads-up from the Garage SDR team!

We will be CLOSED Monday, October 12th for Thanksgiving so our crew can enjoy a well-deserved long weekend with family and friends. ❤️

We’ll be back in the shop and ready to go on Tuesday, October 13th! 🔧🚗

We’d like to wish all of our customers, friends, and families a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! 🧡

We’re incredibly thankful for everyone who continues to support our little local garage and keeps us busy doing what we love. 🥰

Enjoy the turkey, enjoy the long weekend, and please remember:

Calories don’t count on Thanksgiving and neither do the noises your vehicle makes until Tuesday. 😂🔧

(Okay… maybe that second one isn’t true.) 👀

🦃 Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Garage SDR!

For the best for your car, call Garage SDR. 🔧

🍂🔧 HAPPY FRIDAY FROM GARAGE SDR! 🔧🍂

Another week in the shop is almost in the books! 🙌

The hoists have been busy, the tools have been turning, and at least one rusty bolt has tested our patience more than we’d like to admit. 😂

October is officially here, which means a few things…

🦌 Hunting season is here!
🛞 Winter tire season is creeping up on us
🧂 Undercoating season is in full swing
❄️ And unfortunately… winter is coming whether we’re emotionally prepared for it or not. 🥲

With many of you heading out hunting over the next few weeks, we want to wish all the hunters out there good luck, stay safe, and happy hunting! 🦌🍂

And before you take the hunting truck 30 km down a road that stopped being a road 20 km ago… maybe give it a quick once-over first. 😂🔧

For everyone else, Happy Friday! We hope you have a safe and great weekend. ❤️

And remember, now’s the time to get those fall maintenance, undercoating and winter tire appointments booked before the annual “WAIT… IT’S SNOWING?!” panic begins. 😂❄️

🧂🚗 FUN FACT FRIDAY! 🔧

Fun fact: Quebec roads basically season your vehicle with salt all winter.

Unfortunately… your vehicle is not a french fry. 🍟😭

Salt + moisture + slush = a pretty great recipe for rust.

And trust us… rust is one thing you DON’T want extra seasoning on. 😂

That’s where undercoating comes in! 🛡️

Undercoating helps protect those rust-prone areas underneath your vehicle from everything our lovely Canadian winters throw at it. ❄️🧂

Because while a little surface rust might not look too scary at first, corrosion can eventually start causing problems with things you’d probably prefer to keep intact… like:

🔧 Frames & structural components
🔧 Brake and fuel lines
🔧 Suspension components
🔧 Body & undercarriage

You know… minor details. 😂

And no, waiting until your vehicle looks like it spent 40 years at the bottom of the Baie de Chaleur is NOT considered preventative maintenance. 🌊😂

The best time to fight rust is BEFORE it gets comfortable.

Fall is the perfect time to get your vehicle undercoated and protected before another Eastern Canadian winter starts handing out free salt baths. 🧂❄️

📞 Book your undercoating appointment with Garage SDR today!

Your vehicle may not thank you…

but the mechanic trying to remove your bolts in five years probably will. 😂🔧

🏁💥 WELL… THAT’S A WRAP. 💥🏁

Garage SDR officially made our demolition derby debut this weekend at Club de Course New Richmond! 🔧🏎️

We spend Monday to Friday trying to keep vehicles OUT of the scrapyard…

So naturally, over the weekend, we decided to see how quickly we could put one in it. 😂

Did we win?

No. Very much not. 😂

Did we have an unreasonable amount of fun absolutely destroying a perfectly good VW Rabbit?

Absolutely. 😂💥

And thanks to the before & after pictures, we have photographic evidence that she certainly gave it her all. 🫡😂

Now… we DO happen to know which company’s car took home the win. 👀🏆

And purely coincidentally, the owner happens to be one of our best clients.

So congratulations on the win. 👏

Your vehicle is still welcome at Garage SDR.

We’re professionals.

We would never hold a grudge. 😊

…Or would we? 😈

Just kidding! 😂

Anyway, enjoy the victory!

You’ve officially given a garage full of mechanics an entire year, access to welders, and a reason to be petty. 😂🔧

Garage SDR Revenge Tour 2027 is officially under development. 🏁💥

And we’re coming back with vengeance. 😈🔧

A HUGE shoutout and thank you to East Coast Industrial for the trailer rental and for helping us haul our questionable life decision to the derby… and what was left of it back home. 😂🙌

Be sure to check them out and support another local business — we greatly appreciate the help! ❤️

And of course, a huge thank you to the Club de Course New Richmond for an awesome event and to everyone who came out and watched the carnage!

We didn’t bring home the trophy…

But we DID bring home most of the car.

We’ll call that a win. 😂🏁

See you in 2027. 😈🔧

🏁💸 SPONSORSHIP UPDATE 💸🏁

Ever wonder where our sponsorship money goes?

Apparently… AIRBORNE. ✈️😂💸

We told them we wanted more exposure for Garage SDR…
we didn’t mean altitude. 😭😂

Nothing like watching the car you sponsor take “I Believe I Can Fly” a little too seriously at Club de Course New Richmond this past Saturday. 🏎️✈️

Looks like our advertising dollars are REALLY flying this year. 💸😂

But… safe to say we got our money’s worth in entertainment. 😂🏁

Grateful to sponsor a team that really knows how to get our name out there… and off the ground. 🏎️💨🔧

📣 COME SEE US AND OUR TEAM IN ACTION!

After getting a little more air time than expected this past weekend 😂, we’ll be back at it THIS Saturday, September 19th for the Club de Course New Richmond Dash for Cash Demolition Derby! 🏁💥

It’s an event you definitely don’t want to miss! 👀

Proud sponsors. Slightly concerned investors. 😂💸

👀🔧 WHAT’S WRONG WEDNESDAY! 🔧👀

No shop picture this week, so we’re switching things up! 😏

🚨 WOULD YOU KEEP DRIVING? 🚨

You’re driving when suddenly…

🛞 You hear a THUMP… THUMP… THUMP…
🚗 Your vehicle starts pulling to one side
😬 And something definitely does NOT feel right.

What are you doing? 👀

a) “It’ll probably fix itself.” Keep going. 😂
b) Pull over somewhere safe and check it out.
c) Turn the radio up until the thumping becomes part of the song. 🎶😂
d) Call/text Skyla at Garage SDR and say, “Soooo… hypothetically, how bad is this?” 📞🤣

💬 What’s your answer?

🔧 BONUS POINTS: What do you think is wrong?

🌎🔧 FOREIGN CAR FRIDAY! 🔧🌎

European engineering… because apparently putting things in easy-to-reach places would be too simple. 😂🔧

BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Saab and more — yep, we work on them! 🇩🇪🇸🇪🚗

And we don’t just work on foreign vehicles…

We drive them too. 😎

Nearly all of us here at SDR drive foreign vehicles. Specifically VWs..

So trust us… we understand the relationship. 😂❤️

You love your foreign car.
You defend your foreign car.
You tell everyone how amazing your foreign car is…

…and then one morning it rewards your loyalty with a brand-new check engine light and an expensive-sounding noise. 🥰✨

“Awww… you shouldn’t have.” 😂

And yes… Saab owners, we see you too! 👋🇸🇪 They may not be in production anymore, but they’re still out there—and we’re happy to keep them on the road!

From routine maintenance and diagnostics to those “WHO designed this and WHY is that bolt THERE?!” repairs 🤦‍♂️🔧, our experienced mechanics are comfortable working on a wide variety of foreign vehicles.

And if your check engine light has been on for so long that you’ve started considering it part of the interior lighting… 👀😂

No judgment…

…okay, maybe just a little. 😅

💬 What foreign vehicle do you drive? Drop the make, model & year in the comments! 👇

📸 Bonus points if you post a picture—we’d love to see it!

❤️ Tag your favorite foreign car owner who treats their check engine light like a permanent dashboard accessory. 😂

🕰️🔧 THROWBACK THURSDAY! 🔧🕰️

❌No touchscreen?
❌No backup camera?
💪Window crank requires actual arm strength?

If it has a carburetor, chrome bumpers, a bench seat or more character than most new vehicles on the road.

We’ll still work on it. ❤️🔧

Some vehicles are more than just transportation…

They’re a lifetime of memories.
A labour of love.
A piece of automotive history.

At Garage SDR, we know a classic car is more than just a vehicle.

It’s the car you dreamed about owning.
The one you spent countless hours restoring.
The one you’ve proudly taken to car shows and weekend cruises.

For many owners, it’s not just a car—it’s a piece of history. ❤️

When you hand us the keys to your classic , you’re trusting us with years of memories, hard work, and passion, and that’s a responsibility we never take lightly.

Whether it’s routine maintenance, diagnostics, or repairs, we’re proud to play a small part in helping preserve these incredible vehicles so future generations can enjoy them too.

💬 What classic car do you own—or what’s your dream classic? We’d love to hear the story behind it!

📸 Share a picture in the comments! We always enjoy seeing these beautiful pieces of automotive history.

❤️ Thank you to everyone who trusts Garage SDR with their classic vehicles. It’s an honour to help keep these pieces of history on the road

💥🔧 WHAT’S WRONG WEDNESDAY — THE REVEAL! 🔧💥

Knock knock. 🚪
Who’s there?
Connecting rod.
Connecting rod who?
CONNECTING ROD COMING THROUGH! 💥😂

Yep… that rod decided the inside of the engine just wasn’t spacious enough and made its own exit through the block. 😭

🛢️ So what happened?

This engine hadn’t been getting regular oil changes, was eventually run with NO oil, and was knocking before it finally let go. 🔨😬

Safe to say… the knocking was NOT somebody at the door. 😂

No oil ➡️ no lubrication
No lubrication ➡️ KNOCK KNOCK 🔨
Ignore the knocking ➡️ SURPRISE! New inspection hole! 👀💥

And because apparently that wasn’t expensive enough…

💨 The turbo blew too. 💀💸

And turbos REALLY don’t appreciate being starved of oil! 🛢️ Turbochargers spin at extremely high speeds and rely on a steady supply of clean engine oil to lubricate and protect their internal bearings. Without it, things can go bad very quickly. 💨🔥

✨ Moral of the story:

🛢️ Change your oil.
💨 Your turbo needs that oil too!
👂 Listen when your engine starts making new noises.
🎶 And no, turning the radio up doesn’t make the knocking go away. 😂

Oil changes are a LOT cheaper than an engine AND a turbo! 😭💰💰💰

🙏 We’re thankful to have experienced technicians who can tackle major repairs like engine and turbo replacements—but we’d much rather help you avoid needing them in the first place through regular maintenance. ❤️

❤️ Like & share, and stay tuned for next week’s What’s Wrong Wednesday!

🟢 Difficulty: ⭐⭐☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ (2/10)

Well… we don’t think you need to be a mechanic to know something went VERY wrong here. 😬😂

👀 Take a good look at today’s photo…

❓ Can you tell us what happened and pinpoint the visible damage?

💬 Drop your guess in the comments!

🏆 BONUS POINTS: What do you think could cause this failure?
