Alien Technology Racing-ATR

Alien Technology Racing-ATR ATR is a performance based motorcycle shop located in Peterborough, Ontario. An authorized dynojet tuning centre with in house CNC machining capability.

ATR was started in early 1991 by owner Andrew Jones. Having just retired as a military pilot towards the end of the '80's due to an eye issue, ATR, then "adjustment tech racing", began machining parts for motorcycles out of the Omemee area. Primarily ride height adjusters. Then engine building and our first dyno appeared in 1995. Ten years later, 2005, required a move to Peterborough to facilitate

our new 4 axis CNC machine, twice updated dynamometer, and other technical improvements. The name was changed to "alien technology racing" however the moniker ATR remains. Today ATR is among the leaders in motorcycle performance building and tuning.

As promised here are the new fork braces for the ninja 400/500. CNC machined, slightly slotted (no binding), anodized. Foot note; forgot to mention you must remove the little black plastic shrouds on the forks. The brace fights off fork flex and turn loading, (all braking is done on the right side as there is nothing on the left). Ready to go, $249 CAD. Includes stainless hardware. Here on FB or soon on our website at alienracing.net

Another small video demonstrating the difference between flashing and tuning. Here, a 2025 ninja 500 with a Hindle exhaust has had its ecu flashed. Parameters disabled. Now checked using our dyno with wideband O2 sensor. Bike is running too lean. Needs more gas. EVERY bike is different. There are far too many variables within the engine/exhaust let alone outside influences such as altitude, average temp, average humidity, fuel quality, etc. Tuning is the best option. Up next, fork braces. Being anodized right now.

As mentioned earlier here is a quick demonstration of our in-house cnc capability. We currently utilize our Haas VF2 with high speed option, 20+1 tool/changer, and 4th axis option. We produce a number of our own products (clutch covers, fork braces, etc.) as well as those for other companies and individuals. Have a custom request? Please reach out. See us here or at alienracing.net Our next product coming down the pipeline? A fork brace for the ninja 400/500. To add front end stability. Watch for that video coming soon.

As promised our follow up video discussing flashing vs tuning. First off I will admit. I am no actor. Secondly, yes, that was a "cheat sheet". I attempted to keep things somewhat in order. It did not work. I forgot to mention that either method requires the PAIR/AIS system to be disabled. At least temporarily for tuning. It can be re-enable if desired. Otherwise you will get a leaner than real reading. Also, disable the O2 or install an "O2 optimizer" type product. This keeps the ecu in open loop mode. So it will not start fighting the requested mapping you are asking for. Of course we are able to source any of this. Any enquiries, please reach out. Here on FB or alienracing.net

Hello out there. Something that I would like to address. The difference between flashing a fuel map in (either via a fuel controller or into the ecu) versus "tuning" the bike. A fuel map for one bike will not be identical for the next bike. The two maps may be close, or they may be miles away. For various reasons. My advice - have the bike checked on a dynamometer with load control and air/fuel monitoring. If it turns out that the fuel map is really close, great, leave it alone. If the map is not close enough for optimal running (somewhat often) then some form of fuel tuning is required. Enjoy the video. We can be reached at alienracing.net Watch for our next video discussing "tuning" a fuel map.

Gamma clutches!! They can be terrible things. There can be a few issues with them; the belleville washers, improper basket to hub clearance, a warped/warping outer pressure plate. Solutions - throw away the belleville washers and restack the clutch plates to correct height, check/alter the basket to hub clearance, remove stock pressure plate if warping and install our cnc machined plate. Shown is a test of our modifications. Stan's gamma now shifts as it should. Yes, the running engine is louder than me......oops. However everything said is here in text. Please reach out with any questions.

It's been a while. I am terrible at uploading projects. However we just cnc'd 5 clutch covers for the RZ500. I slowed the cnc down to 25% so to view it better. Next up........some exhaust caps.

Huge congratulations going out to Dan “surfer dude” Willard. He narrowly took the win in the 350 production class. https://speedhive.mylaps.com/Sessions/6648204 Way to go Dan! He took care of the chassis as we built the engine and CNC’d a custom one off dyna 2000 ignition system. Seems it works. Photo credit to Bill Murphy.
