I get asked to take on some side jobs at times. This one is an original fuel pump from a 64 Oldsmobile 364. Can you believe it,parts are available!

This client had me rebuild his stock original Rochester 4GC earlier this year, so when he asked me to do this job I agreed right away. Honoured to be part of such an exciting build.

Dateline August 22, 2026.

It looks like any trade deal with the USA has fallen apart, as of today. Analysts are predicting some hard times ahead, for both countries.

I buy the best carburetor parts I can, and almost all of these these come from US suppliers. Thank you Cliff Ruggles, Mike's Carbs, Summit Racing, and others, for the top grade and quality you provide.

If our parts prices are affected by border tariffs, I will not pass them along to our customers. I will cover any tariffs levied against carburetor parts.

Satisfaction Guaranteed. Honest.

Last spring, I sold a rebuilt carb at the Vernon, BC swap meet. The buyer has got back to me just now, very unhappy. He listed several problems with the carb.

I have offered to refund him, and pay for shipping back to me so I can figure out how I went wrong. There is something for me to learn in this. I hope he accepts it.

My guarantee is intended to protect my clients from dissatisfaction of any kind. They do not have to prove it, or even explain it. I mean it when I say...

I experimented on a garbage core, using 60grit sand in a sand blaster, in place of the baking soda I usually use. The damage to the surface is obvious.

Does anyone use anything other than baking soda to blast off staines in the carb?

Picture shows a Holley 1940 type 1bbl, in this case it's from a Snowcat with a Ford 6 in it. This unit was very heavily sedimented in the bowl, which damaged the float(s), and plugged the power valve and single jet. Cleaned up great! This was a really fun project.

I have it on good authority that AI cannot rebuild a carburetor. It *might* be able to put together instructions on how...but it can't actually do it.

There is a place for AI, for advanced technology. But it ain't in my workshop.

My happy thought for the day.

On my bench - a Rochester 2GC, a Ford Holley 1bbl off a Snowcat, and a 1bbl boat carb. Also waiting on parts for a Olds Qjet.

Shipped a Thermoquad and a Marine Qjet last week.

Photo is a divorced choke Quadrajet "before" photo.

Such variety!

Yesterday I rebuilt a marine carb for a 6cyl Mercruiser. The client got a kit from Amazon. Made in China.

I have no political or controversial opinion on Chinese goods, but by reputation they are sketchy in many auto/marine applications. In this case, the power valve needle would not fit, and the needle/seat kept jamming and failing to open. The float was hollow hard plastic. Not good.

I cleaned it, reused the bits that the kit could not replace, and gave it back free of charge. If it runs at all, the client will use it for 4-6 weeks, and then let me order a proper kit.

Beware cheap parts.

In order to test certain Qjets on my Olds 403, I need a1" or 2" spreadbore spacer. Not an adapter, a spacer. A hunt on Amazon came up dry. Lots of adapters (super to spread) but no 1" or taller square bore spacers.

Any advice?
