Dismantling the L31

12/03/2013

Ok you've waited long enough. We promised GM tuning capabilities for a while now, so the Tech 2, CANdi and TIS 2000 are on the way.

Diagnostics and tuning for 91-2007 GM, Saab, Suzuki and Isuzu available very shortly. We do LS swaps and PCM upgrades as well!

Next... Manifold fabrication for custom forced induction, custom exhaust work, bar - cage - bumper fabrication, lift kits - long travel suspension and crossover and hydraulic steering.

Well, I should keep track of the progress on this build, so here is the first modification: Standard '98 "Black Box" being swapped out for the "411" (Delphi's 12200411 Powertrain Control Module) This is no plug and play change, so please don't attempt this yourself.

This is a budget build and somewhat of a sleeper, so a used one is being refurbished and coated black to look stock. Diagrams have been studied and cross referenced with other 411 swaps. All we need now is EFILIVE to get this swap underway. Though I would like to run a 1/4 mi stock, many have with close numbers, so I'm comfortable using theirs as a base.

"Why the hell are you doing this" Many reasons:
Rev limit on stock PCM 5600 RPM and you can't tune it higher.
Better tuning by far
Dual timing tables
Faster Processing
Electronic throttle control
Can run LS series engines should this old L31 get tired of my sh*t.
Run a 2 BAR MAF - Means you can effectively add boost
Adding LS2 ignition is a breeze
Valet Mode
Because I can. The 411 can be found on some Vettes, Camaros, and the 454SS truck, so why not my '98 350 truck?
