Hi Neighbours!
Canada Day is one of my favourite days of the year in Greely. It’s a chance for neighbours to reconnect, new families to feel at home, and our entire community to come together to celebrate our country
Behind every activity, every volunteer, every sponsor, and every smiling face is a community that cares deeply about creating something memorable for everyone. While there are a few changes to this year’s event, we’ve also added some exciting new activities that we think families are going to love, so be sure to read through this newsletter and check out the full schedule.
On behalf of the Greely Community Association, thank you to our volunteers, donors, and community partners for making this celebration possible. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Join us on Wednesday, July 1st at the Greely Community Centre (1448 Meadow Drive) starting at 12PM for a day of family‑friendly fun as we come together to celebrate Canada Day in true community spirit.
We have activities for all ages throughout the afternoon, including:
🎈 Balloon fun
🐐 Petting zoo
🎯 Yard games for kids, teens, and adults
🍺 Beer tent
🎶 Live music
🛍️ Vendor market featuring local businesses
🚗 Vintage car display
🍔 Food trucks with tasty options for everyone and much more
🍁New This Year: Canada Day Bicycle Decorating Contest, Nerf Shooting Range, Button Making, and expanded games
🍁Kids of all ages are invited to decorate their bikes in red and white and show off their Canada pride. Bring your most creative, patriotic designs — judging takes place at 2:00 PM with fun prizes to be won.
All activities take place at the Greely Community Centre grounds. We encourage everyone to check the full event calendar for the complete schedule of the day’s festivities.

Fireworks at 10:00 pm - A Greely Favourite!
As the sun sets, get ready for one of Greely’s most beloved Canada Day traditions — our spectacular fireworks display at 10:00 PM! Bring your lawn chairs, gather your family and friends, and enjoy a dazzling show lighting up the night sky.
A heartfelt thank‑you to the many local residents whose generous donations make this annual highlight possible. Your support helps keep this tradition shining bright for the whole community.

A huge thank‑you to the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy, and heart to make Greely’s Canada Day celebration possible. From planning to setup to keeping activities running smoothly throughout the day, your dedication is what brings this event to life. Our community is stronger, warmer, and more connected because of you.
👮♂️ A Helpful Safety Tip from the Ottawa Police
The Ottawa Police Service encourages parents and caregivers to take a quick photo of their child on the day of the event. If a child becomes lost or separated, having an up‑to‑date photo showing exactly what they’re wearing helps volunteers and officers reunite families much more quickly.A simple snapshot can make all the difference.
🎪 A Quick Note About Bouncy Castles
We are sorry to share that the inflatables/bouncy castles planned for this year’s event are no longer available due to circumstances beyond our control. We understand that this may be disappointing and appreciate your understanding. We are however excited to some fun new activities in their place including a Nerf Shooting Range, button making, a Canada Day Passport, and expanded yard games! Thank you for your understanding, and for helping us keep the day full of joy, laughter, and community spirit.
