🚨 PATROL LINK + WHELEN CORE | CUSTOMER TESTED

A customer wanted to try a few of our Patrol Link lightheads on his existing Whelen Core system before committing to more.

Fair enough.

So we sent him a mix of our current Patrol Link heads and a few prototype dummy heads we’re testing for the next generation.

🚨 YOU ASKED FOR CORE + PATHFINDER CAPABLE DUMMY HEADS. I WANTED TO PROVE THEY WORKED FIRST.

I’ve been flooded with requests for dummy lightheads that could integrate with systems like Whelen Core and Pathfinder.

The ask was pretty specific:

✅ One dedicated wire per colour
✅ Steady-burn outputs
✅ External flasher controlled
✅ DVI capable
✅ More colours in a single lighthead

I don’t believe in taking a manufacturer’s word for it and throwing something on the website.

If I’m going to sell it, I want to test it myself.

Buying a full Core or Pathfinder system just for testing wasn’t in the budget, so an experienced Core installer pointed me toward the Whelen PLF46 as a way to properly test DVI flash patterns.

24 hours. Two separate tests.

I’m pretty confident we’ve met the ask. 🔥

And now I’m ready to move forward.

Next week I’ll be placing a substantial stock order of Patrol Link dummy heads, with the lineup moving to 5-colour capability.

Five colours. One wire per colour. Steady burn. You choose the controller.

For the s**t disturbers already warming up the keyboard 😂

Patents do not last forever. When patent protection expires, competitors can legally develop their own products around previously protected concepts, provided they are not infringing other active intellectual property.

We’re not pretending these are Whelen lights.

🚨 ONTARIO ROADSID​E SAFETY: TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE?

Ontario’s Minister of Transportation, Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria, has announced that starting January 1, 2027, Slow Down, Move Over legislation will expand to include vehicles displaying flashing amber warning lights.

The roadside safety industry has waited years for meaningful change, and this is what we get?

🚨 Quebec has introduced Amber/Green warning lights.

🚨 Alberta and Saskatchewan have authorized Amber/Blue for certain roadside vehicles.

🚨 Nova Scotia has authorized Red for certain roadside applications.

Meanwhile, Ontario continues relying on amber alone.

As a former police officer and fleet safety professional, I’ve witnessed firsthand how complacent drivers have become toward amber warning lights. They’re everywhere, frequently misused and routinely ignored.

Minister, where is the accountability for unnecessary amber light use? Where is the enforcement of existing Slow Down, Move Over laws?

You can introduce all the legislation you want, but without enforcement, public education and improved warning light standards, we’re missing a critical part of roadside safety.

⚠️ Roadside workers deserve more than another press release and photo opportunity. They deserve to make it home alive.

Ontario, it’s time to catch up.
