Aren't fuel prices crazy?? I know for myself that I am making better driving choices to hopefully reduce my needed travel costs. One of them is limiting the use of my diesel truck as prices this morning for diesel were around $1.98 per litre. It wasn't that long ago that diesel was 10 cents per litre cheaper than gas!

There are other things we can all do to reduce our fuel consumption and mitigate some of the costs of higher fuel prices. They are as follows:

Driving Tips:
1) Accelerate Gently From Stops
2) Maintain A Steady Speed
3) Anticipate Traffic
4) Avoid High Speeds
5) Coast To Decelerate
6) Avoid Idling

Vehicle Maintenance Tips:
1) Check Tire Pressures Regularily - Underinflated tires can increase fuel consumption up to 4%!!
2) Be sure to have your vehicle serviced on a regular basis. Follow the recommended vehicle maintenance schedule for your vehicle.
3) Your vehicle may be due for a fuel system service. Cleaning the fuel injectors and combustion chambers for more efficient combustion.

Call us at 289-856-EAST (3278) for more information, or to book your service appointment today!

I don't see fuel prices coming down in the short term, so hopefully these tips will help you out and reduce some of your fuel costs. Please click on the link below for a more complete list of fuel saving tips. Have a Wonderful Day!

Fuel-efficient driving can save you hundreds of dollars in fuel each year, improve road safety and prevent wear on yo

We are very sad to annouce the passing of our beloved founder, father, grandfather, friend & mentor, Mervyn Colling, on Feb 26, 2025.
Next to his family, cars were his passion from a very young age. Growing up on a farm in Lowville, Ontario, he learned to tinker on all kinds of equipment. This lead to a career in the auto industry, starting as mechanic in 1957. During this time, he also began racing a supermodified throughtout Ontario.
Eventually Merv decided to chart his own path and bought his 1st service station, a BP in Milton. Eventually parting ways with his partner, he next worked at Kennedy Ford in Oakville as a service advisor. It was here he met his next partner and began the next adventure. In 1969, Merv, along with partner Jack Moed, opened Eastside Auto Service on Chartwell Road. It was a busy year for Merv, as he also welcomed his 3rd child a few months after opening, Glenn, the current owner.
Merv was much loved by our employees & customers, many who became dear friends. He always ran Eastside with integrity, honesty & treated everyone with kindness & a smile.
Long after "retiring" he would still come into the shop & became a teacher & mentor to many of our mechanics just beginning their careers.
He will forever be treasured in the hearts of many, but especially our Eastside Auto Service family.

In honour of Merv the shops will be closed on Wednesday March 5th, 2025 to enable our Eastisde Family to pay thier respects.
