Can an older car get wireless CarPlay?

Love the car. Tired of plugging in your phone?

A compatible receiver can add wireless Apple CarPlay to many older cars. Once paired, your iPhone can connect without a cable each time you get in. There are wireless Android Auto options too.

One thing the wireless connection won't do: charge your phone. Keep a charging option handy for longer drives.

On many vehicles, we can connect the factory camera to the new screen with the right adapter. We also check the details: guide lines, extra camera views and how the system behaves when you select reverse.

Will I lose my steering wheel controls?

Better screen. Same volume button. That's the idea.

In many cars, the right interface lets your steering-wheel controls work with a new receiver. Volume, track changes, calls and voice commands depend on the car and the equipment we fit.

A twin-turbo V8 convertible that still feels brand new. A screen that didn't know what a phone was. 🔊

This 2016 BMW M6 came in with the original factory infotainment: great screen, dated software. So we brought it up to date without changing a thing you can see.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, added to the factory radio with an RDV interface. Same factory screen, same factory controls, all the original BMW menus still there. Get in, your phone connects, and maps, music and messages come up on the dash. No cables, no tablet stuck to the dash.

And while it was here: a remote starter. One press on the key and it's running and warming up before you get to it.

Same M6. Same V8. Now it keeps up with your phone.

My factory radio died. Now what?

Radio stuck on the logo? No sound? Before you start shopping, let's find out what's wrong.

A blank screen doesn't always mean the radio is finished. It could be a connection or software issue. If it does need replacing, it could be a good time to add the features you've been missing, like CarPlay or Android Auto.

A V10 that still turns heads. A dash that was stuck in 2008. 🔊

The Gallardo's performance never went out of date — but the tech inside it did. So we brought the cabin up to the level of the car.

Kenwood head unit with Apple CarPlay, fitted right where the original screen lived. Factory controls kept, factory lines untouched — it looks the way Lamborghini would deliver it today.

He bought it brand new in 1978. He's still the only owner.

Nearly five decades on, this Trans Am rolled into our shop with one request: make it sound incredible, without changing a single thing he can see.

The radio keeps its classic look, but it's all modern inside, Bluetooth streaming included. Then we hid a pair of MATCH 6x9s in the rear deck. From the driver's seat it's still the same '78 he drove home. Nothing to give it away. The only difference is the one you hear.

Looks like '78. Sounds like '26. 🔊

One passenger. Two impounds. One Labour Day on the Sea to Sky.

On Sept. 7, B.C. Highway Patrol clocked a taxi on Highway 99 near Porteau Cove allegedly doing 133 km/h in an 80 zone. The passenger in the back seat was only in a cab because they'd just lost their own vehicle to an excessive speeding impound.

The 65-year-old driver from Squamish is now looking at a $368 fine, a 7-day impound with tow and storage on the owner, and at least three years of high-risk driver premiums. Police put the total north of $2,000.

That taxi was one of 21 excessive speeding impounds on the Sea to Sky that day alone.

It's one of the most beautiful drives in the world, and it's patrolled like it. Enjoy the view, watch the signs. 🏔️
