Today we had a come in with a heavy oil leak in the rear of the vehicle. We removed the rear aero panel and found the oil filter to be leaking!
We removed the old filter, drained and filled the drive unit fluid, and replaced the filter. We also checked the oil pump for leaks, which is fairly common, but this one was dry.
We then connected to Toolbox3 (Tesla's diagnostic software), and ran the ODIN routine to check to ensure the fluid level was correct.
While there is no maintenance interval for the drive unit fluid, we recommend doing a service every 60,000km.
