Today, we share the heartbreaking news that Ken Bateman, founder of Bateman’s and a dear friend, mentor, and part of our family, passed away this past week.
Ken and I worked together from the time I was 18 years old. Bateman’s began many years ago in a barn on Thorold Stone Road, with little more than hard work, determination, and Ken’s vision for what the business could become.
We worked tirelessly to build the company, eventually moving to Stanley Avenue near Highway 420. It was a small shop with limited parking, but we continued to grow, serving more customers and becoming part of the community we were so proud to call home.
In 2003, Bateman’s moved to its current location, where we have continued to grow and serve our community ever since.
None of that would have been possible without Ken. He was the founder and pioneer of this company, and his influence is woven into everything Bateman’s is today. His legacy will live on for generations.
For me, however, Ken was so much more than the founder of Bateman’s. He was a huge part of my life for many years. He was my friend, my mentor, and the godfather to my children. He became part of our family.
I will always treasure the memories we shared — camping and boating together, sharing meals, telling stories, laughing, working side by side, and simply enjoying life.
Ken was a good man and a loyal friend. He touched the lives of so many people, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Everyone at Bateman’s extends our deepest and most sincere condolences to Ken’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you, Ken, for your vision, your friendship, your guidance, and the legacy you leave behind. You will never be forgotten.
