Welcome to the first installment of our staff spotlight series, where we're introducing you to the incredible people who make Roland Rad the place you trust.

Today we're introducing you to Sheena! You've probably already seen her around as she's worked here for almost two years.

Whether it's a mysterious engine rattle or a stubborn check engine light, she has the skills and know-how to get to the bottom of it.

We asked Sheena a couple of questions to help you get to know her better...

What's your dream car?
93 NSX

Why did you become a mechanic?
It all started with a high school co-op position at a local garage. Sheena simply wanted to learn the basics about car repair, and from there her love of cars flourished and grew.

What do you like to do outside of work?
It's all about spending time with her kid and dog :)

Stay tuned for posts over the next few weeks where you'll meet the rest of the team.

Today, we say good bye to one of our amazing staff members, Mike. As he heads off to the Canadian Armed Forces we want to take a moment to say thank you for his dedication and hard work at Roland Rad.

Mike has been an important part of the team since 2020, bringing his skills, expertise and positive attitude to everything he did here.

While sad to see Mike go, we're also excited for his future in the armed forces. We have no doubt that he'll continue to thrive and succeed.

Thank you, Mike, for everything. We'll miss you.

Old and new brake rotors. Who doesn't love a good before and after?

You can probably see the rust on the old one ;)

If we leave the old rotors on when replacing brake pads, your new pads can wear down quickly, so we generally recommend new rotors. And you can see why :)

Did you know that in the winter you should keep your gas tank half full?

There are a few reasons for this...

It keeps condensation from forming in the tank, which can lead to freezing of your fuel lines. And your car may not start!

It keeps your fuel pump cool. Gasoline acts as a coolant for the motor of the fuel pump. If your gas is low, the pump sucks in air and generates heat. Over time, the heat causes premature wear of your pump, and possible failure.

A gas tank that's at least half prevents dirt from getting trapped. When your gas is low the dirt can block your fuel filter. Which means more repairs!

And having a full tank is a good safety measure. If you're stuck in bad weather or behind an accident, you'll have enough gas.

And of note, in warmer weather you should keep your tank at least one quarter full.

Happy travels!

With fluctuating temperatures your tire pressure may also fluctuate. This can affect your car's performance and fuel economy, as well as overall safety.

Each car has its own pressure specifications - usually between 28 and 36 PSI. You can find this info on your tire's sidewall.

Cold weather, like we've been having lately, can decrease your tire pressure. If you're not sure how to check, pop by and I or one of our staff can help you out :)
