This course is intended to be a starting point for people interested in learning the basics of vinyl wrapping without the headache and frustration that comes with learning by yourself. All students will get hands-on experience using Vvivid Polymeric Vinyl. This will make attending Vvivid, Avery, 3M and Orocal training much easier should you wish to pursue Intermediate certification.
Level 1 Beginner
Day # 1
- Preparation, how to be thorough and what to use
- What can and cannot be wrapped
- Tools needed
-Reducing surface energy of opposing panels
- Squeegee techniques, getting comfortable with handling of the film
- Gloss Verses Matte. Dry versus wet squeegee work
- Using air egress and creating your own air egress
- Fi*****ng, wrinkling and wrinkles
- Reading the wrinkles
- Glassing, conforming and laying into recesses
-Tinting a Headlight or Tail light solo
- Approaching a door panel with help
- Approaching a door panel solo
-Wrapping a Hood with help
- Relaxing the film (edges), pre-stretching with and without heat
- Post-heating, what it does, how to do it and when to use it
Day # 2
- Wrapping a Fender with help
- Wrapping a Fender solo
- Front bumper wrap with help
- Cutting and trimming
- Corners and the different types. Different ways to wrap them
- Shrinking the film around corners, edges and surfaces
- Inlays, where to use them, how we do them and why
- Recessed areas, the high and low points (post heating)
- Damaged film during install. Is it recoverable or not?
- Horizontal and vertical surfaces
- Banding, glue lines and adhesive particles
- Using seams with knifeless tape
