❤️ Sometimes, when things seem quiet in rescue, they really aren’t quiet at all. ❤️
There is so much that happens behind the scenes that most people never see. The late-night calls, the emergency trips, the worry, the tears, the sleepless nights, and the people who quietly step up to help an animal who desperately needs someone in their corner.
Recently, this beautiful boy came into our care. His name is Charlie, and when we met him, he was in really rough shape. 💔
We had to rush him to Emergency care. His beak had become severely overgrown, making it incredibly difficult for him to eat. His feet were overgrown to the point where he couldn’t perch properly. He was struggling so much that he was even having difficulty using the bathroom because he simply couldn’t eat normally.
But Charlie wasn’t forgotten because someone didn’t care.
He lived with an elderly gentleman who became ill, and unfortunately, when circumstances change, sometimes the smallest and most vulnerable members of a household can fall through the cracks. His neglect was never intentional. Life simply became more than his owner could manage.
And then Charlie found his way to us. ❤️
We are so incredibly fortunate to have such knowledgeable, compassionate people within our rescue family. Charlie is now safe with one of our amazing rescuers, who has birds of her own and understands exactly what he needs.
And just look at him now. 🥹❤️
This beautiful boy is 42 years old. At 42, he has already lived so much of a life, and we are determined to make sure the next chapter is filled with comfort, love, proper care, and the chance to simply be a bird again.
He has already made an incredible turnaround in such a short amount of time. There is still a road ahead of him, but we are taking it one day, one meal, one little improvement at a time.
Sometimes rescue isn’t about dramatic before-and-after stories.
Sometimes it’s about trimming an overgrown beak so someone can eat again.
Sometimes it’s about helping sore feet so someone can perch again.
Sometimes it’s about giving an old animal a safe place to finally rest.
And sometimes, it’s simply about saying:
“We see you. You matter. We’ve got you now.” ❤️
Welcome to your new chapter, sweet Charlie. You are safe, you are loved, and you are worth every bit of the effort. 🐦❤️
**Please Note: We have been contacted and told this is not Charlie from Pet City.
