Overtime is voluntary (sign-up), unless there are insufficient volunteers in which case there is mandated overtime.
Employees who volunteer for overtime get 2 out of 4 weekends off in a rolling 4-week period.
Employees voluntarily working 8 hours of overtime in a week cannot be mandated for that weekend’s overtime work. Employees who book a vacation on Friday or Monday cannot be mandated for overtime on that adjacent (bookended) weekend (provided the vacation day has been approved at least a week in advance).
In a case where there are insufficient volunteers qualified temporaries, students or probationary employees are required to work, followed by seniority employees according to the order established in the overtime mandate list.
Overtime is paid for all authorized work hours:
Any authorized time worked over 8 hours in a day, at time & one-half (1.5 times) the rate of pay
Saturday (at 1.5 times), if the employee has met the 40-hour benchmark (bm) in that week, and
Sunday or Paid Holidays, at double time (2 times) if the employee has met the 40-hour bm.
40 hour benchmark for the week is work + approved leave, e.g. vacation or banked time = 40 hours.
Working Conditions:
Job duties require continuous standing, walking, handling, and reaching
Repetition of tasks and duties
Excellent manual dexterity and handwork
Lifting between 5-15 lbs. sometimes continuously
