Imelda Collins, une infirmière irlandaise de 52 ans qui souhaitait déménager en Italie, a décidé de ne pas opter pour une vente immobilière classique, mais plutôt d’organiser une tombola en ligne en mai 2025.

Le concept était très simple : pour environ 6 euros, les participants pouvaient acheter un ticket pour tenter de gagner sa maison meublée, un bungalow rénové de 2 chambres accompagné d’un terrain de 700 m².

Imelda voulait simplement gagner environ 300.000 €, partir en Italie et profiter de sa retraite. Pour cela, elle devait vendre 50000 tickets. Mais elle sera choquée par ce qui va se passer par la suite.

Finalement, Imelda a vendu près de 300000 tickets. Cette vente inattendue lui a permis de récolter environ 2 millions €, alors qu’elle avait acheté la propriété pour 132.000 € en 2022.

La gagnante, Kathleen Spangler, une Américaine de Chicago, a été tirée au sort et a remporté la maison pour seulement 6 €, tous frais inclus.
