Crosswalks:
When pedestrians are crossing, you must stop 5m away.

What I don't understand: why are they adding a yield sign on the crosswalk signs? A crosswalk sign literally means "yield to pedestrians" They do not need to add the yield sign on it 🫥

You can start the program with theories 1-2-3-4-5 3 months before you turn 16! If you complete all 5 theory classes, you can get your learners permit on your birthday! 🥳

School Bus 🚸
You have to stop 5m away from a school bus that have their intermittent lights on and the stop sign out. The only exception to the rule is when there's a median strip; the opposite side does not stop.

*Got this video when breastpumping in between lessons. I had to mute the original video because you could hear my beastpumps in the background 😅

Winter driving ❄️

There's snow everywhere, maybe there's ice, you can't see the lines... when driving in winter: SLOW DOWN. That's the trick! I know it sounds too easy of an answer, but that's the gist of it. When there's less traction, slow down.

I teach all my students good driving habits so that when winter comes around, they're not changing their technique, only their speed.

Having control of the car during winter is not impossible! Take your time

No Passing Allowed:

We do not see this road sign very often. They usually put this sign up in construction zones where a 2 lane road because 1 lane for each side to share.

This is a road sign they might ask you about during your knowledge test!

Charging 🔋

They should really install more fast charging stations in Montréal. There's really not enough of them on the island. They installed a fast charge at the Côte St-Luc library...but it's still not functional.
So I'm currently using the fast charge that's near Outremont on Van Horne.

A fast charge is great to charge your car in a short amount time. Especially in winter; I can get 150km in an hour!

After driving an electric car for 9 years, I've learned that what kills the kilometers in winter is when the wheels have less grip on the road and having to activate the traction control and the ABS. Don't get me wrong, the cold weather cuts the kilometers in half, but my worst kilometer days are not when it's -20°C, it's when the roads are super slippery.

Is drinking coffee while driving a distraction? YES, it is.
Having 2 hands on the wheel helps you stay in control of the vehicle!
During your driving lessons and on your driving test especially, you have to have 2 hands on the wheel 👐
