Today some of our staff took part in Mazda Motor Corporations Paper Crane Initiative! Each year Mazda Motor Corporation donates paper cranes to be displayed in the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima, Japan, as a symbol of Hope and Peace. This tradition was inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl from Hiroshima, who was exposed to the atomic bomb at just two years old. In her battle with leukemia, Sadako folded paper cranes with the hope that making 1000 would help her heal. Her story inspired a campaign to build the Children’s Peace Monument with Peace Memorial Park and her legacy has grown each year with over 10 million donated cranes displayed annually at the monument. If you’ve ever heard the expression “1000 paper cranes grants a wish”, this is where it comes from.

The Maritime Miata Club had their annual “BBQ” event yesterday at the Wentworth Recreation center! We had 19 Miatas from The Moncton and Saint John area attend and a total of 59 NA, NB, NC, and ND Miatas total in attendance! A great meal of lasagna, caesar salad, and garlic bread, along with blueberry cobbler for dessert!
