Car Fun Fact: The world record for the highest vehicle mileage is 3,039,122 miles

A man named Irvin Gordan who owned a 1966 Volvo 1800S was able to clock on just over 3 million miles back in 2014.With that distance you can almost make 120 trips around the world. So what was his secret to keeping his car alive for that long? We will never know what but we do know is that keeping a regular maintenance check is key.

Summer Time Traveling Hazards:

Breakdowns can happen. Be prepared for the worst. Take plenty of water, energy providing snacks like dried fruits and nuts. Keep shade umbrellas in the vehicle in the event of a breakdown where there is no shade.

Be prepared to wait. As a service advisor I have found towing companies are often overwhelmed and that tow you are waiting for could take hours to get to you. Always have a back up plan and let contacts know which route you are taking and when you expect to check in so they know where to send help should the worst happen.

Make sure you have road side assistance as towing expenses can rise quickly. If traveling in BC, I recommend at least the gold or black BCCA packages as the basic package is really only good for people who do not travel far from home.
