Good afternoon everyone! I hope all is well.
(My apologies for the long post.)
Many of you seen back in June, that we had to temporarily shut down the doors, and park the trucks, well this is a post I’ve been dreading to make.
I think life works in mysterious ways. There are things that we can’t prepare or predict for. Especially owning a small business, man is it ever tough!. No one talks about the reality of it, when you’re only 1 person you wish you were 10.
When my dad, Jim Beckett came to me a year and a half ago, saying he wanted to open up a business and if I wanted to run the office, of course I said heck yeah! Not thinking he was entirely serious. I was 18, just finishing up my last year of highschool, waiting to see what life threw at me as stepped out into the world. I put my university to a pause (not that he ever wanted me to) and I was all in for helping my dad make his dreams come true. As many of you know, my dad has been in the towing industry for just over 15 years, owning his own business has always been a dream for him. Not for the money, but to help people which he has always been super good at. Watching my dad work 16 hour days, every day for a year making his dream become a reality, then coming home and being the best father and husband is truly inspiring. So let’s take a minute to just thank Jim, none of this could have been possible without him, thank you for helping people from near and far.
So with tears in my eyes, and heavy weight in my heart I have to say we are closing the doors for good.
Myself, working in the office was such an eye opener. I encountered things I never thought I’d ever have to do, being put in positions where I needed to make a choice right there and then was hard. Again coming fresh from highschool I had 0 experience, and being thrown into a very important position was definitely scary. When people called, they’d deal with me, when people were scared, upset, frustrated, I had to do everything in my power to make sure I made the situation a tiny bit better, and I hope I did just that, I tried my best!
And to every single person out there for helping us, THANK YOU. From just sharing our posts, to telling your friends about us, to people on the highway, you guys helped us way more than you think you did. Thank you to Keaton our driver since day 1, we couldn’t have done it without you, and to our driver Sophie, thank you. Terri (my mom) for being our after hours dispatch, couldn’t have done it without you either!
And thank you to my uncle John Kidd, the other Owner for all the help and efforts and having a vision and being part of our journey and business.
Let’s not forget about the other company’s in merritt, they will be able to fill any of your tow needs.
