Here is an interesting one. 2020 Ford edge diagnosed at another place as needing an engine replacment.

I found that the EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) cooler had cracked causing engine coolant to enter the exhaust and the cylinders. Replaced the cooler, cleared the cylinders of coolant and it runs great now. This repair cost about $600 vs $5000+ for engine replacment.

Another day, another downed 2.4L ecotec engine. This one jumped the timing, bent all the valves and will be getting a new cyl head and timing installed.

Believe it or not I have ordered 27 timing kits for these in the last 12 months. Primary cause is lack of maintenance and lack of checking oil. Oil changes are cheap compaired to a job like this. I cannot stress enough change your oil!!!! I know your ownera manual says 10,000km or 12,000km is acceptable but read the fine print where is says for severe duty cut the interval in half. There is nothing not severe duty about saskatchewan driving, short trips, cold climate, check and change your oil!

This is your reminder that if you want to avoid a huge repair bill to not do this. We live in a severe weather climate and it is much harder on vehicles and engine oil than anywhere else in the world. This GMC Terrain only has 88,000km.

I have been overly busy in the shop and picking up vehicles.

Main focus for vehicles forsale is the 2014-2019 Chevy and GMC trucks under $20,000. Still have many 2010-2017 Equinox and Terrains floating around as well typically $5000-9000.
