This picture was taken on the day the car community got kicked out of the Java Hut parking lot near 200th Street, because of burnouts on the roadway and in the parking lot..........................
Ewald and Kurt Penner attended the Surrey Police/Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce, Street Racing & Burnouts Meeting yesterday, April 24th.
The Clayton Heights business community (location of Timmies/A&W on 192nd & surrounding area) is tired of the hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage done by street racing/drifting (destroying boulevards, fences, buildings, etc.) and the burnouts on 192nd itself, which have been going on since 2016.
We are very pleased to report that the overall spirit and the comments during the meeting were that the “trouble makers” are only a small portion of the car community, and the rest are welcome.
After much discussion, the police will take the following targeted approach to the offenders only.
- Drones will take footage
- Plain clothed and uniform police will be on site
- Tickets will most likely not be given on site
- Video and pictures will be taken, then used for enforcement later
- Offenders will be charged under the existing Dangerous Driving Law
o Drivers will get heavy fines
o Their vehicle will get impounded for 7 days for the first offence and more if more occurs again
o Tickets will be applied to their driver’s license
o Insurance rates will also reflect the dangerous driving charges
It’s the folks that do such things that have had the car community kicked out of a ton of meeting places around the Lower Mainland for the past 30 years, so we trust that the actions will be changed before we lose what is one of the best locations we have ever had.
The business community is asking us not to park vehicles in front of a business while it’s open, unless you are going into that business. This does affect their income.
The business community in the area is taking this very seriously.
We will get kicked out of the Timmies/A&W parking lot on 192nd, if things don't change there quickly, so please take this seriously as well.
We are honoured to serve this great car community.
Thank you for all your support throughout the past 20 plus years.
We kindly ask that you share this to all the pages and people that would welcome this information, in order to let as many people know as possible, of the changes that are in affect now.
Happy motoring, we look forward to seeing you at car meets throughout the driving season.
