Ladies and gentlemen, here it is. Your 2025 6.7 Cummins!

Engine Updates
* 7.2L Rumor: While there’s chatter about a 7.2L option, the 6.7L is confirmed for 2025.
* Hydraulic Roller Lifters: Still in use, unfortunately.
* Glow Plugs Replacing Grid Heaters:
* Since 1989, Cummins has used grid heaters, but for 2025, they are switching to glow plugs.
* Benefits:
* Improved airflow.
* Elimination of issues related to grid heater bolt/nut design.
* External Injectors:
* Injectors now run externally through the valve cover.
* Benefit: No need to remove the valve cover, making it much easier to service.
* New Holset Turbocharger: 10-blade VGT design.
* Fuel Pump:
* The pump resembles the CP4, but it’s a new design.
* Let’s hope Cummins engineers have addressed prior reliability concerns.
* Engine Block:
* Transitioning from compacted graphite iron to traditional grey iron.

Exhaust & Transmission Improvements
* Electric DPF Heater: Designed to heat up the filter faster, improving efficiency.
* Transmission:
* Introducing the ZF Powerline 8:
* A commercial-grade transmission, which is a significant upgrade over the 68RFE.
* Expected to challenge the Aisin in durability and performance.
* ZF’s reputation is solid, with this transmission already used in Kenworth trucks under the Paccar brand.

Performance Numbers
* Power Output:
* 430 HP and 1,075 ft-lbs of torque.
* Compared to the current 420 HP and 1,075 ft-lbs, the modest increase likely indicates Cummins is playing it safe while testing this new platform.
* Future power increases may come through software updates once the reliability of the new powertrain is confirmed.

Availability
* Orders are now open for the 2025 models.
* Dealers have access to build guides, but detailed knowledge will come once trucks arrive on the lot.
