This morning we saw a video of a mechanic hammering a cylinder liner out. The liner eventually came out... but it also cracked in the process.
That's exactly why liner pullers exist!!!
A proper liner puller grabs underneath the liner and pulls it out evenly, reducing the risk of damaging the liner, the block, or both. It's one of those tools that doesn't get used every day, but when you need it, there's no substitute.
Every shop rebuilding engines should have one. The right tool doesn't just make the job easierβit helps make sure the job is done right.
How were you taught to remove liners: hammer, puller, or a homemade setup? ππ§
