This morning we saw a video of a mechanic hammering a cylinder liner out. The liner eventually came out... but it also cracked in the process.
That's exactly why liner pullers exist!!!

A proper liner puller grabs underneath the liner and pulls it out evenly, reducing the risk of damaging the liner, the block, or both. It's one of those tools that doesn't get used every day, but when you need it, there's no substitute.
Every shop rebuilding engines should have one. The right tool doesn't just make the job easier—it helps make sure the job is done right.

You were taught to oil every seal.
Were you taught wrong? 👀
When installing cylinder liners, the correct lubricant depends on what the seal is sealing against. In some applications, engine oil is the right choice. In others, a simple dish soap solution is the better option.
Small details like this can make the difference between a reliable repair and a comeback job.

Cummins ISM11 Timing Clear as MUD!
Looking at a Cummins ISM11 and the timing instructions weren't exactly practical.
Sometimes knowing where the marks line up saves a lot of unnecessary wrenching.

🔧 Duramax 6.6 Diagnostic Training
This truck came in hunting, surging, and struggling to idle.
The fault codes pointed us toward the MAF circuit, but instead of throwing parts at it, we started testing. Along the way, we found a temporary solution that helped the truck idle properly while we continued tracking down the real issue.
A good reminder that a fault code tells you where to look — not what to replace.
