Delivered the 67 Chevy K10 panel down south and while I was down there we picked up a few early 2wd squares. The orange one is a 75 been sitting 30 years engine spins freely but with a battery wasn’t getting power. The silver one is a 79. It fired right up and drove onto trailer, it has been sitting 15 years but the body is pretty toasted

But more importantly the red wedge has officially hauled two full-size vehicles 😎
Still figuring out the rigging and how best to do this and that with it but it was a great success

Well this was supposed to be updated #3 but update #2 disappeared.
Project “SnowBall” as I like to call it has gotten a bit off the rails. BUT Schell’s Shop will wrangler back in just wait.
She was missing a few key parts.
Harmonic balancer
Starter
Torque converter
Flex plat
Fuel pump.

I feel it needs to be said that this was a factory SBC that was BBC swapped, it looks to be ran with the BBC in it:

Ok here it is as quick as can be:
We pulled the engine just a hair ahead and slipped the flex plat into place and installed the oil pump, we slapped a high flow Melings oil pump and intermittent oil pump shaft in, lifted the engine and put the oil pan on. We hocked up my personal Chevelles new starter and then cranked it over. Things are looking good.
At this point we stuffed the headers back in, slapped on a cab, stuffed in a distributor and harmonic balancer. Hooked up a home made ignition system. Using jumper cables and toggle switches, Dumped some fuel down the ok choke hole and fired it up(video is added in a separate post)

Ran good no bad noises for two cab bowls worth of runtime.
Sadly it is being pulled out of the garage as my smoking hot beautiful wife’s suv is in dire need of a new cam and lifters.

Till next time Cheers

Well a few weeks ago I posted an update on the 77 shortbox.. but I just noticed that the post is no where to be found. I don’t understand what happened. Ok to summarize what it was about we looked over the 77 shorty and found outboard no torque converter and missing oil pump. But did turn over easy with a bar that’s pretty much the key notes

Schell’s shop update!
We made it to the reddeer swap meet yesterday landing some good deals.. some
silly stuff but most will be useful. On our way home we scooped up this little 77 GMC shortbox 4x4… with a BIG BLOCK CHEVY stuffed under the hood. Condition unknown but fingers crossed it runs . She came with a few extra pieces of this and that.. some better fenders, a endgate and some other doors as well as all the rust repair panels for the cab
Till next time cheers

Good evening everyone! We have successfully transported the trailer out of my in-laws shop and back to Schelly’s Shop proper only had to tun back one time!(bearing too tight amd was getting warm) Over the last two days we overcome the few holdups we encountered over the past week

After returning the trailer drums to the big shop in Edmonton and talking to the guys behind the counter, together we figured out what we needed. To retain our axels and use the hubs I had purchased. Turns out the axels under this here ramp trailer has stopped being made in the best year ever… 1990. So a conversion bearing 14130 was needed to make everything fit together.

We removed all the old wiring and installed all new stuff. Nice led lighting and away we go. Ran out of time so didn’t get to the front amber lights yet.

We started messing with paint… starting going black then decided to throw some red on it… it truly is lipstick on a pig lol this trailer needs to start earning its keep before we go and sandblast it and paint it. At that point we will decide what colour to put it in. Im going to throw out some ideas here:

KMax orange/yellow
Red
Tan
Olive Drab
Or the safest choice Black

Let me know in the comments your opinion on a colour!

The trailer still has some kinks that need to be worked out but is almost ready to be put to work

Cheers

Red Wedge Ramp trailer update! Well
To be honest the week hasn’t gone as we had hoped! That’s not to say we haven’t made good progress on the restoration.

We started on the brakes, the forward axle went splendidly, everything we had went on without any issues. The rearward two axels were different… and of course why would you want all 3 to be the same. The issue or the bane of the week was the outer bearings on the front axel is a smaller size. The rear 2 axel outer bearings are the same. We went to the local and recommended store wetaskiwin hoping to get a conversion bearing. No luck. Crud. Next day the wife bravely drove to the city to a large axel shop. There they sold us 4 new drums….. that are the exact same as the new ones I already bought. It was a dud of a day for my beautiful wife.

Now the good progress, the entire braking electrical is done, brake away switch, brake battery and all associated wiring DONE

We started wiring in the new electrical for the tail lights and such. It’s all ran just need to find their forever homes.

Jumping ship from electrical to fenders.. there’s method to the madness trust in us. We had to move the fender out 4” to clear the tires. Passenger is almost done. Need to get some strips of checker plating to fill in the 4”
gap. But let me say that the 5th army could stand on these here fenders

Also this unit has a crank adjustable 5th wheel plat. It was stuck tighter than tight. We cut it sll apart and put the devels hair dryer to it. A bit of time, WD40 and loads of heat cycles it spins freely now. All greased up and ready to be reinstalled… just waiting on a thrust bearing

If ya read though all that thank you, you probably noticed that most of what we have done is all half finished. On jobs like this we normally would start and finish one task at a time. But on this job unforeseen delays made us move ahead on other items. We don’t actually have any new lights to go on the trailer so can’t finish that, we don’t have the correct drums for the rear axels, and I simply ran out of time today to finish fender number two. I should say that we are supposed to be out of here this coming Thursday to boot. So picking things that won’t stop us from being able to move the trailer is important

Cheers

Picked up this here wedge trailer a few months back, needs some tlc. Home built unit that was used to haul race cars. Was built in wetaskiwin Alberta. However don’t have any more info on it. She’s 42’ of usable decking. Had cracked welds and really bad tires ans jankey wiring. Brakes who needs um! We just started the restoration on it yesterday and are making good progress. We will do our best to update on the trailer “Red Wedge”
