Good morning fellow fargin bastaches!!
So it goes witjout saying that in the service industry you are going be be faced with people looking to take advantage of kindness, try to talk down your prices, try to reduce the costs of repairs by any means they can and as such attempt to bring in their own cheap ass, low grade, barely legal parts and want repair shops to install them.....not going to happen.
Now...having that said.....here are a couple analogies to put this idea of bringing in your own parts into perspective.
#1 - try bringing a bag of groceries to a reataurant and ask the chef to cook you a meal with it.
#2 - walk into your doctor's office with a bag full of drugs and ask him/her to prescribe them to you.
#3 - bring a set of kitchen utensils to your surgeon and ask him to use them.during.your gender reassignment surgery.
#4 - you supply your own organ for your transplant and mid surgery the surgeon learns it is incompatipbe and now you remain a slab of meat on the table until the right organ becomes available......some day
#5 - you walk into a scuba diving shop with your own fire extinguisher and ask them to fll it with oxygen........feel free to contribute all, we can come.up with our own top ten list of reasons why you don't p**s off your mechanic....lmao

Shop rates breakdown...
$140/hr regular rates,
$175/hr if you watch,
$225/hr if you attempt to help,
$250/hr if you worked on it first,
$500/hr if you try to tell me how long it takes or how to do it....
We do not charge for the sarcasm, ridicule and dumb looks.

So hard to get through the day with the same old - same old.

Good morning all!!
We have been getting requests for small engine work and yes we do still perform work on small engines. The shop has become very busy and shop rates remain the same across the board.
We are aware most shops charge less money for small engine repairs but given costs of small business today and the demands in auto repairs it is difficult to put that aside to accept a lesser income for small engine repairs. We are a small crew, small shop and our costs are not adjusted regarding income either.
On another note.....we have taken in a couple old pieces of equipment (small engines) that truly are not worrh the costs of the repairs. We try to accomodate regardless but said units are only worked on if/when time permits such as cancellations and no shows. If you have an old outboard, snowblower, generator or any other such items, especially offshore brands, please consider replacing them as repairs costs (less a basic tune up) will likely run more than the unit is worth.
The last thing we want is disappointed clients and a warehouse full of repaired units that we cannot even sell to cover the costs to repair them. Having that said, Paul's many years working for Yamaha and Honda as well as his automotive background makes him quick to diagnose, quick to repair and as long as parts arrive in a timely basis, quick to be out the door.
Another issue we are trying to work around is the shipping of parts. Not that long ago small parts were overnight or two days maximum to receive them. Given the ridiculous costs of fuel, insurances, and maintenance shipping companies will not send trucks out unless they are full. Anything less than a full capacity truck does not cover the costs of shipping. This is having a huge effect on receipt of goods. Something as simple as tires and/or brakes for a motorcycle has taken weeks to arrive in what used to be days. We are trying to expand our resources but not willing to buy bulk orders every six months to have an inventory of products we have no room for nor the need.
Keep yourselves prepared all. Plan ahead, keep your vehicles and equipment properly maintained to save yourself delays and down time. Maintenance is cheaper than repairs.
Have a great day everyone and keep on rolling!

Good morning folks!!
Cheers to all and hope your rocking the summer season!!
This post is to inform and advise all clients/customers about why garages will not install customer supplied parts.
The simplest analogy I can offer is like bringing your own steak to a restaurant.
It does not fly!
More importantly, in a world of sue happy people, lawyers that will drag ANYBODY into lawsuits, people somehow never being held accountable for their own actions and, of course, insurance liabilities, we all have to protect ourselves. In the event of an accident, anybody that has ever owned, driven or rode the vehicle, relatives or people that may merely have seen the vehicle jn passing will somehow end up involved in litigation for lawsuits. That being said, if garages install customer provided parts the garages have zero paper trail of where the parts came from and even if the customer shows a receipt, the garage name MUST be on the receipt. When we supply parts we can prove where parts came from, we can honor any warranties AND we can trace manufacturer standards etc.
So, note to people that think they are saving money by buying their own parts then bringing said parts to a licenced garage for installation, it is not going to happen.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with you purchasing your own parts and performing your own repairs to whatever extent you may be comfortable with but no dealership nor professional garage is going to allow you to buy your own parts then bring them in for us to install.
Our policy is simple...if you trust us to repair or modify your vehicles then you should trust us to supply quality parts that meet or exceed the criteria required for the application involved.
Long story short....DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BRING YOUR OWN PARTS TO GARAGES.
We have enough liabilities on us than to accept cheap, second rate parts because you think you are saving money.
I cannot stress this enough!
Respect your service provider and you will certainly get it back ten fold.
