Hiring Red Seal Mechanic
Mechanic
PURPOSE OR GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Family-owned business, which has operated in Kelowna for the past 55 years. The candidates’ responsibility is to provide full mechanical services.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The candidate requires a thorough knowledge of the automotive and tire industry. As well have extensive experience working on light/medium duty vehicles, both domestic and import. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, problem solving, aiming to maximize reliability and functionality. Knowledge of the touch screen tablet for On Board Diagnostics is required. Able to work independently and work as a team.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform work as assigned on work orders, with efficiency, safety and accuracy. Noting and advising management of any other additional concerns.
- Ability to diagnose the cause of the error and perform repairs as authorized in a timely manner
-Reviews with client and determines the customers’ needs
-Excellent communicator with a ‘get the job done’ attitude
-Ensures total customer satisfaction through excellent service
-Clearly and legibly write labor time and parts used on work order for invoicing purposes
- Keeps client’s car presentable and clean
- Clean and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety
-Maintains equipment and tools in good working order. Ensures that when a tool is broken it is brought to the managers attention immediately
-Attend training classes and meetings, as required
- Competently operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Maintains a working knowledge of current industry best practices
-Perform routine tire shop tasks including, tire rotations, tire install and regular maintenance of the equipment.
- Knowledgeable and capable of doing wheel alignments
QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education, Training and Experience
Essential: 5 years minimum automotive mechanic experience.
Journeyman or Red Seal certified is required.
Motor Vehicle Inspector Certificate is an asset.
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
Must be Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and provide friendly customer service
Self thinking, problem solver
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Essential
A complete understanding of the automotive industry for light/medium duty vehicles.
Ability to operate power tools and required equipment to perform tasks/projects
Ability to operate OBD (On Board Diagnostics)
Note: Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment: Mechanics stand for most of the day, and they typically work in well-ventilated and well-lit repair shops, although they often work with greasy parts and tools and sometimes in uncomfortable positions. Proper protective gear must be worn at all times.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
