Here's a stat worth sitting with: the Government of Canada's Job Bank projects a strong risk of labour shortage for social and community service workers nationally through 2033. In British Columbia specifically, demand is being driven by growing need in child and family support services, homeless shelters, addiction treatment, and Indigenous community programs.

At Taylor Pro College, our School of Human Studies trains people for exactly this kind of work, through programs like our Social Services Support Worker and Addictions and Community Support Worker diplomas.

Wanting to help people is a good starting point. But the workers who actually make a difference are the ones who've been trained for it, who know how to de-escalate a crisis, navigate a client through the systems meant to support them, and recognize the signs of trauma without making a situation worse.

Taylor Pro College's Social Services Support Worker Diploma is built around that reality. Over the course of the program, you'll work through psychology and sociology fundamentals, trauma-informed care practices, group process and support skills, cultural competency, advocacy, and professional report writing- the actual toolkit social service agencies are looking for.

This program suits people who are steady under pressure, genuinely curious about people, and ready to do work that matters in their own community.
