A mysterious underground structure discovered near Lake Minnewanka has Banff National Park officials searching for answers.

Parks Canada says the hidden structure was uncovered after a section of ground collapsed near the lakeshore in late May. Early assessments suggest it was built from untreated logs and rough-cut planks and likely dates back to before the 1950s or 1960s. While officials suspect it may be connected to the former Lake Minnewanka Campground that operated more than 80 years ago, there are no known historical records or photographs confirming its purpose.
