Good morning, Sudbury!

There is a winter weather advisory in effect. ❄️

Total amounts of snow will be 10-15 cm, beginning this afternoon and continuing into Tuesday.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

We remind pedestrians to be extra careful. It may be more difficult for drivers to see you when the snow is falling. Help other road users see you by wearing bright colours or adding reflective material to clothing, especially at night.

Only cross at marked crosswalks or traffic lights. Do not cross in the middle of the block or between parked cars and never cross on a red light. Make sure drivers see you before you cross. If the driver is stopped, make eye contact before you step into the road.

Drivers: Stay Alert, Slow Down and Stay in Control.

Drive according to weather conditions. Maintain a safe following distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Let's all work together to avoid collisions:
- Make sure that your vehicle is prepared for winter driving.
- Drive smoothly and slowly.
- Don’t tailgate.
- Brake slowly to reduce speed before entering turns.
- Turn on your lights to increase your visibility to other motorists.
- Don't use cruise control if conditions are snowy, icy, or wet.
- Remove ice and snow from your windows, windshield, roof, lights and mirror before leaving.
- Buckle up.
- Pay attention!
