That’s common after an Edmonton winter — but it’s not something to ignore. Here’s what to do:

Pay attention
When does it happen? First drive of the day, or all the time? Any vibration? These details matter. Don’t assume the worst. Not every noise means new brakes. It could be something serviceable like, surface rust, normal wear, or a sticking component. Best to get at this early to avoid bigger issues.
Get a proper inspection (we do them digitally!)
Brakes need to be checked and analyzed with the wheels off to understand what’s really going on. It's how we do it

The golden rule? Swap to summer tires when temperatures consistently stay above 7 degrees Celsius. The dreaded pothole season is here… Luckily for us there are some things we can do in order
to prevent the damage that potholes cause!

#1.) The first step in dealing with potholes is trying to avoid them. Keep a safe distance from
the vehicle before you to better see and avoid potholes. If you can’t avoid a pothole, slow down
before you hit it, but don’t brake directly over it, as this can cause more damage to your vehicle.
Always keep your tires properly inflated; underinflated tires are more likely to be damaged by
potholes.

#2.) The City of Edmonton encourages residents to report potholes to help maintain the roads.
You can and should report potholes; this can be done through the following channels:

311 App: The most efficient way to report a pothole is through the City of Edmonton’s 311 app (IOS) (Android). Download the app, provide the pothole’s location, and submit
your report.

Online: Visit the City of Edmonton’s website and navigate to the pothole reporting
page, where you can fill out a form with the pothole’s details.

Phone: You can also call 311 to report a pothole directly.

By reporting potholes, you contribute to safer roads for yourself and your fellow Edmontonian
