Tremcar knows the value of surrounding itself with great people!
As a large privately owned family business, Tremcar has benefited from the leadership of its President, Daniel Tremblay, who has always understood the importance of surrounding himself with experts to help guide the company’s strategic direction.
Since 2014, Clément Godbout has served on Tremcar’s Advisory Committee for 12 years, generously sharing his experience, sound judgment, and strategic insight. His contributions have played a significant role in shaping and aligning our business strategies.
At the age of 87, Mr. Godbout is now embarking on a well-deserved retirement. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for his commitment, dedication, and invaluable contributions over the years. His impact on Tremcar will leave a lasting legacy within our organization.
Who is Clément Godbout?
A prominent figure in Quebec’s labour movement, Mr. Godbout is best known for serving as President of the Fédération des travailleurs et travailleuses du Québec (FTQ) from 1993 to 1998. Prior to becoming President, he served as Secretary General of the FTQ from 1991 to 1993, following nearly a decade as Vice President of the organization.
Coming from the mining industry, he also served as Quebec Director of the United Steelworkers. After beginning his career as a miner in Normétal in 1958, he quickly became involved in union leadership and went on to rise through the ranks of Quebec’s labour movement.
Throughout his career, he contributed to the growth of the FTQ across Quebec’s regions and played an important role in advancing workplace health and safety initiatives. He was also a founding board member of the FTQ Solidarity Fund, helping to establish what would become one of Quebec’s most influential economic development institutions.
Thank you, Mr. Godbout, for your exceptional contribution and for the lasting legacy you leave at Tremcar.
