DREAM GARAGE FRIDAY

You get ONE dream paint job for your classic.

No budget restrictions. No practical decisions. Just the finish you’ve always wanted.

What are you choosing?

A — DEEP GLOSS BLACK
Timeless. Bold. Menacing.
When the bodywork is right, there’s almost nothing better than a mirror-like black finish.

B — CUSTOM PEARL / CANDY
Deep, rich and built to come alive when the light hits it.
If you want your build to stand apart from everything parked beside it, this might be the one.

C — FACTORY CORRECT
Original. Authentic. Timeless.
Sometimes the perfect colour already came on the car—and bringing it back to its original glory is hard to beat.

So, what’s going in your Dream Garage?

A, B or C?

Or forget our choices entirely. Tell us your dream vehicle AND dream paint colour in the comments. We want to hear some wild combinations.

At Harper’s Auto Addictions, whether your vision is factory-correct, completely custom, or somewhere in between, we love bringing dream builds to life.

YOUR VISION. OUR CRAFTSMANSHIP.

THROWBACK THURSDAY — 1966 FORD BRONCO

Some classics were built to look good.

Others were built to go just about anywhere.

In 1966, Ford introduced the first-generation Bronco, a compact 4x4 that would eventually become one of the most recognizable and collectible vintage SUVs around.

The original Bronco was simple, rugged and purpose-built. It was offered in several body configurations, including the roadster, wagon and pickup, and buyers could choose between a six-cylinder or optional V8.

No giant touchscreen.
No 47 driving modes.
No heated cupholders.

Just classic styling, four-wheel drive and plenty of personality.

Today, early Broncos have become highly desirable restoration and restomod candidates. Some owners want them returned to their original 1960s glory, while others add modern power, upgraded suspension, custom paint and creature comforts while keeping that unmistakable Bronco character.

And we can appreciate both.

If a 1966 Bronco landed in your garage, what would you do?

CORY’S TIPS #3

PEARL VS. FLAKE — WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Both can completely transform a paint job, but they create very different looks.

PEARL
Pearl is more subtle and refined. It interacts with light to create depth, shimmer and colour shifts depending on the angle. In the shade it can look understated—then the sun hits it and the paint comes alive.

METAL FLAKE
Flake is the louder cousin. Reflective particles create visible sparkle and flash. Fine flake adds a tasteful pop, while larger or heavier flake can create a bold, show-stopping finish.

CORY’S TIP:
Pearl gives you depth and subtle movement.
Flake gives you sparkle and attitude.

Application matters too. Uneven technique can cause mottling, striping or inconsistent colour from panel to panel, which is why experience makes a difference with custom finishes.

And custom doesn’t have to mean crazy.

Sometimes just the right amount of pearl or flake takes a colour from:

“That’s nice.”

to

“WHAT colour is that?!”

At Harper’s Auto Addictions, we can help you choose a finish that suits your vehicle, your style and exactly how much attention you want to attract.

RESTORATION MYTH MONDAY

MYTH:
“A great paint job is all about how well the painter sprays it.”

TRUTH:
Spray technique matters, but a great paint job is built long before the paint ever leaves the gun.

Even the best painter and highest-quality products can’t hide poor preparation.

Proper prep can include:

• Repairing rust and damaged metal correctly
• Straightening and blocking panels
• Correcting bodywork and panel fitment
• Using the proper primers and sealers
• Sanding through the correct stages
• Cleaning, decontaminating and masking properly

Paint doesn’t magically hide what’s underneath.

Waves, sand scratches, poor bodywork and contamination can all show through or cause problems with the finished product.

With 20+ years in the industry as a Red Seal Journeyman Auto Body Technician, Cory knows some of the most important work on a paint job is the work customers never see.

CORY’S TIP:
Don’t judge a paint job by how quickly it gets sprayed. Pay attention to the preparation that happened before that first coat.

At Harper’s Auto Addictions, we take the time to build the right foundation for a finish we can be proud of.

Dream Garage Friday

You can only pick ONE.

A. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
B. 1970 Plymouth HEMI ’Cuda
C. 1967 Shelby GT500

Three legends. Three completely different personalities.

The Camaro brings iconic styling and high-revving performance.

The HEMI ’Cuda brings brute-force Mopar attitude.

And the GT500 brings Shelby heritage with serious muscle-car presence.

But here’s the twist…

What if none of them are your dream car?

Forget the list.

If someone offered to completely restore one classic vehicle of your choice to perfection, and you had to keep it forever…

What would YOU choose?

Give us the year, make, model, and color in the comments.

No selling it.
No trading it.
No practical answers required.

This is your dream garage—we want the car you’d run outside to look at every single morning.

Let’s see what wins: A, B, C… or something completely different.

At Harper’s Auto Addictions, dream cars are exactly why we do what we do. Whether your vision is factory-correct, completely custom, or somewhere in between, we’d love to help bring it to life.

Throwback Thursday

1957 Chevrolet Pickup

Some trucks are built to work.
Others become legends.

The 1957 Chevrolet Pickup is one of the most iconic trucks ever produced. With its unmistakable grille, wraparound windshield, and timeless styling, it remains a favorite among collectors, hot rodders, and restoration enthusiasts nearly 70 years later.

Whether it’s restored to factory-original condition or transformed into a custom showpiece, the ’57 Chevy truck proves that great design never goes out of style.

If one of these classics rolled into your garage tomorrow, would you:
A. Restore it to original factory specs.
B. Build the ultimate custom cruiser.
C. Turn it into a street truck with modern performance.

Tell us your choice in the comments!

Cory’s Restoration Tips #2

Not everything you see on YouTube is the right way.

YouTube is a great place to learn, but after 20+ years as a Red Seal Journeyman Auto Body Technician, I’ve seen how bad advice can turn a simple repair into an expensive mistake.

A few common examples:
• Structural repairs done incorrectly can compromise safety.
• Your windshield is part of your vehicle’s structure and plays a critical role in roof strength and airbag deployment.
• Painting over rust doesn’t fix it—it only hides it temporarily.
• Poor prep work leads to peeling paint and failed repairs.
• Cheap materials often cost more when the job has to be redone.
• Incorrect welding weakens panels and causes distortion.
• Body filler should refine a repair, not replace damaged or rusted metal.

Learning is always encouraged—just make sure you’re learning from people who understand why a repair is done a certain way, not just how to make it look good on camera.

At Harper’s Auto Addictions, we believe every restoration starts with the right foundation. Because in auto body, what you can’t see is often more important than what you can.

Restoration Myth Monday

MYTH:
“Original is always better.”

TRUTH:
Not always.

While some collectors value factory-original restorations, others want a classic that performs as well as it looks.

Tasteful upgrades—such as improved brakes, suspension, fuel injection, modern drivetrains, or upgraded lighting—can make your vehicle safer, more reliable, and more enjoyable to drive without taking away the character that made you fall in love with it in the first place.

At Harper’s Auto Addictions, we believe there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to restoration.

Whether your goal is a factory-correct restoration, a resto-mod, or something completely custom, the best build is the one that matches your vision.

Now we want to hear from you…

Would you choose:
A. Factory Original
B. Resto-Mod
C. Fully Custom

Tell us why in the comments!
