Planning a drive to BC? 🏔️ ❄️ 🚗 Winter Tires Required

Most BC highways require winter tires or chains from October 1st to April 30th.

BC has some of the world's most beautiful but also dangerous mountain passes. Conditions can change rapidly by the hour and elevation.

✅ Tires must have either the three-peaked mountain and snowflake symbol or the letters “M” and “S.”
✅ Always check current road conditions and closures before you go: Drivebc.ca
✅ Drive to conditions and keep an eye out for wildlife.

We've had several second-hand vehicles come into the shop this week with outstanding safety recalls, 2 of them involving potential fire hazards.

After purchasing a used car, remember to:
✅ check your VIN for any pending recalls or service campaigns on the dealer's website
✅ update your vehicle owner contact info with the dealer (e.g. Toyota Canada) so that you can be reached when there is a new recall/service campaign

👉 The VIN (vehicle identification number) is a unique 17-digit combination of letters and numbers which can be found on your vehicle registration or directly on your vehicle, either at the bottom driver's side corner of the windshield or on a plaque at the driver's side door jam (door or body side).

We're now starting to see the supply issues hit the big retailer shelves across Canada at Costco, Walmart, and Canadian Tire as the last pre-war shipment ran out. For example, the price of a 2-jug pack of Kirkland brand motor oil at Costco jumped from $45 to $70-80 this week at some locations.

We stocked up early on in preparation for this outcome and will maintain our prices as long as our current supplies last, however being a small shop with oil change season looming we'll eventually need to adjust our prices when our suppliers do.

In addition to oil changes on existing vehicles, the issue could potentially affect auto manufacturing as well

: Do you drive a 2014-2023 Honda or Acura?

The suspension mounting points on the rear subframe could rust. If not fixed, the rear suspension components could fail leading to poor handling and loss of vehicle control, creating a risk of a crash.

Spring tire rebates are coming to an end this week for most manufacturers, but Michelin just announced an extension since Spring came a little late this year: rebates for Michelin, BFGoodrich, and Uniroyal are extended until June 12th.

If you're still looking for tires, double up on savings this week by shopping end-of-season sales before the rebates end! 😎

: Do you drive a 2021-2023 Toyota Highlander or Highlander Hybrid?
The second-row seatback(s) may not lock in position and could move in a crash. Toyota recommends not using the second-row seats to transport passengers until the recall repairs have been completed.
