Our third local organization for this year's Community Partner Program is the Cowichan Green Community - we are predominately supporting the Beverly Street Food Hub.
Why a Community Hub??
CGC is creating a place where food, skills, connection, and opportunity come together. The Beverly Street Food Hub will be a shared space where food, education, social programs, and
local enterprise work together to strengthen the Cowichan region.
The new Beverly Street Food Hub will create a 4,800 sq. ft. multi-use community facility supporting:
- Shared commercial kitchen space
- Warehouse, dry & cold storage, freezer
- Agricultural education programs
- Community workshops
- Meals on Wheels
- Local food initiatives
- Workforce development and training
- Community economic development opportunities
This project looks at ways FOOD can create opportunities in our community:
- Grow local food and local futures
- Create space for community enterprise
- Build skills, support food, strengthen community.
- A third space with economic benefit
We are super excited to partner with this project and are looking forward to supporting the Beverly Street Food Hub as it will help create lasting community infrastructure that improves food access, creates workforce opportunities, and supports local organizations and families.
