THE #08 — A CHAMPIONSHIP CAR, A CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVER & A STORY WE’RE DAMN PROUD OF
Some race cars are just race cars.
Others become part of your story.
They become the cars everyone recognizes when they roll through the gate. The cars that keep you in the shop late at night. The cars that test your patience one weekend and have you celebrating the next. The cars that create friendships, stories and memories that last a whole lot longer than the trophies ever will.
For Strang Road Racing, the #08 Mazda 3 Hobby Stock has become one of those cars.
And you can’t tell the story of the #08 without talking about the man who has been behind the wheel — Glenn Cook.
Glenn’s name has been part of Cape Breton racing for a long time. With many years of experience behind the wheel of Street Stocks and countless laps under his belt, Glenn brought something to the #08 that you can’t buy or build in the shop — experience.
Put Glenn behind the wheel and you knew he was going to get everything he could out of the car.
And together, Glenn and this little Mazda built one hell of a résumé.
2024 — SECOND IN HOBBY STOCK POINTS.
The #08 showed speed and consistency throughout the season. Race after race, Glenn kept putting the car in contention.
Heat races, features, restarts and side-by-side battles — more often than not, that little #08 was somewhere around the front.
When the season came to an end, Glenn and the #08 finished second in the Hobby Stock championship standings.
A great season.
But they weren’t finished.
They came back in 2025 with unfinished business.
And what followed was a season we’ll remember for a very long time.
2025 — HOBBY STOCK CHAMPIONS.
After an entire season of racing, Glenn and the #08 Mazda 3 captured the 2025 Hobby Stock Championship for Strang Road Racing.
But that’s only half of what made Glenn’s 2025 season so impressive.
While competing in our #08 Hobby Stock, Glenn was also racing a Street Stock for Strong Automotive.
Two completely different race cars.
Two different divisions.
Two different teams.
Two championship battles happening at the same time.
And when the final checkered flags fell on the 2025 season…
Glenn Cook was champion in BOTH.

Two teams. Two divisions. Two championships. One driver.
That’s an accomplishment that deserves recognition.
Winning one championship takes commitment, consistency and a whole lot of work.
Winning two championships in the same season, driving two different cars for two different teams, says a lot about the person sitting behind the wheel.
We’re incredibly proud that Strang Road Racing and the #08 got to be part of that season.
And we’re proud of what this little Mazda has accomplished along the way.
This car has never needed to be the biggest, fanciest or most expensive thing sitting in the pits.
It just needed to do its job.
And it has.
Nearly every time we’ve put the #08 onto the racetrack, it’s given us something to be proud of. Whether it was a heat race or a feature, Glenn was consistently putting it into podium contention and giving us a reason to be standing at the fence watching every lap.
That’s what made this combination work.
A good race car and a damn good race car driver.
Coming into 2026, we were excited to see the defending championship car back on track.
Unfortunately, sometimes a racing season doesn’t go exactly how you planned.
We only got the opportunity to race the #08 twice this year.
Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we made the decision to sit the car for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Obviously, we would have loved to have seen it out there more.
But those two races don’t define the story of the #08.
The years before them do.
The battles do.
The podiums do.
The second-place points finish does.
The championship does.
And most importantly, the memories do.
Because that’s what racing eventually becomes.
You spend all week getting ready for a few minutes on the racetrack.
You stay late in the shop fixing things nobody in the grandstands will ever know were broken.
You load everything up.
You make your way to the track.
You unload.
You race.
Sometimes you win.
Sometimes you lose.
Sometimes you come home with a trophy.
Sometimes you come home with a car that needs half the front end rebuilt.
And then you do it all over again.
Why?
Because we love it.
That’s short-track racing.
And somewhere along the way, without even realizing it, you’re making memories you’ll talk about for the rest of your life.
That’s what the #08 represents to us.
We’re proud of the second-place finish in 2024.
We’re incredibly proud of the championship in 2025.
We’re proud of all the podiums and great runs this car has given us.
We’re proud of everyone who has ever turned a wrench on it, helped us in the pits, offered advice, cheered from the stands or followed along with us.
And we’re damn proud to have Glenn Cook behind the wheel.
Glenn has given the #08 everything he had every time he strapped into it, and the results speak for themselves.
We also have to recognize Strong Automotive and what Glenn accomplished with their Street Stock.
To represent two different teams in two different divisions during the same season and finish the year as champion with both is something special.
There aren’t many drivers who can say they’ve done that.
And there aren’t many seasons that come together like 2025 did for Glenn Cook.
For us, we’ll always be proud that the #08 Mazda 3 and Strang Road Racing were part of it.
So when we look at this little Mazda sitting in the shop, we don’t just see another Hobby Stock.
We see:
🥈 2024 — 2nd in Hobby Stock points
🏆 2025 — Hobby Stock Champion
🏁 Podium contender nearly every time it hit the track
🏆 A driver who became a two-division champion in the same season
And behind all of those results are hundreds of laps, countless hours of work and a pile of memories.
Race cars get rebuilt.
Parts get replaced.
Paint gets scratched.
Trophies eventually collect dust.
But the people, the battles, the friendships and the memories you make doing this never leave you.
That’s what racing is really about.
The #08 may have only seen the track twice in 2026, but you don’t measure this car’s story by one season.
You measure it by everything that came before it.
The #08 Mazda 3.
Glenn Cook.
Strang Road Racing.
Second in points.
A championship.
Podium after podium.
And one incredible 2025 season where its driver walked away as a champion twice.
Two cars.
Two teams.
Two divisions.
Two championships.
One driver.
That’s a chapter of our racing story we’re going to be proud of for a very long time.
