Why did “just one more lookout” become a dangerous phrase on this Québec road trip?

Ole and Danielle’s Fraserway RV journey continues along a spectacular 230-kilometre stretch from Sainte-Anne-des-Monts to Cap-des-Rosiers, at the gateway to Forillon National Park.

From Ole’s Road Trip Diary:

“Right after Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Route 132 builds into a full-blown coastal crescendo. From here on, the ancient Appalachians crash headlong into the vast Gulf of St. Lawrence.

With every bend, the cliffs rise higher, the sea opens wider, and another lighthouse appears like a marker in a spectacular maritime opera. The visual drama is almost surreal: the road is squeezed between rock and water, the forest tumbles toward the Gulf, and fishing villages cling to the shore.

In some places, the highway runs so close to the water that stiff winds spray sea foam right across your windshield. For Danielle and me, this was the kind of road where ‘just one more lookout’ became a dangerous phrase, because the view around the next curve was always even better!”

Swipe through for historic lighthouses, fresh Gaspésie seafood and an evening at Camping des Ancêtres in L’Anse-à-Valleau.

Stay tuned for the next chapter of Ole and Danielle’s Québec road trip.

August is always a big one for us. Across all 8 of our rental locations from coast to coast, it's the season of full shuttle buses, hundreds of RVs being prepared every day, and helping travellers set off on adventures they'll never forget.

We're grateful to see so many people exploring this beautiful country and choosing to do it with a Canadian, family-owned company. Taking a moment to come together, fire up the BBQ, and celebrate the hardworking teams who make it all happen is one of our favourite parts of the season.

Thank you to our staff, our customers, and everyone making memories on the road this summer.

A wild welcome to Parc national de la Gaspésie. 🫎

From Ole’s Road Trip Diary:

“It’s 325 km from Rivière-du-Loup to the rugged Parc national de la Gaspésie, a hiker’s paradise featuring over 25 peaks over 1,000 metres and a unique alpine tundra ecosystem where moose and caribou coexist.

We saw a male moose crossing our path on the way back to the RV!”

An unforgettable wildlife encounter among the Appalachian landscapes of the Chic-Chocs.

British Columbia is big. Really big. 🗺️🇨🇦

In fact, BC is approximately 2.6 times the size of Germany, larger than France and Germany combined, and even larger than Washington, Oregon and California combined.

Why does that matter when you're planning a trip?

Because conditions in one part of BC don't necessarily reflect what's happening across the entire province. With such vast distances between regions, weather, road conditions and wildfire activity can vary significantly from one destination to another.

If you're travelling in BC, stay informed and check current conditions for the specific destinations and routes on your itinerary.

There is a lot of BC to explore. ❤️

📍 Always check official travel, road and wildfire information before heading out.

Do you ever get that “WAIT… did I forget something?” feeling right before pulling out of your Campsite? 👀

Don’t worry we’ve got you covered! Every RV at Fraserway comes with a checklist to ensure you’re ready to hit the road safely. In this video we’re focusing on the exterior of the RV. 🌲👇

Before driving off, make sure you’ve:
🪢 Stowed your sewer hose after dumping
🔒 Closed all exterior compartments
👣 Tucked away the entry step
☀️ Retracted the awning
↩️ Brought the slide-out back in

And of course, double-check that checklist again! ✅ A few extra minutes now can save you from realizing you forgot something once you’re already on the road. 😅
Stay tuned for the Inside Edition, because there’s still more to check before you shift into drive. 🚐💨
Which of these are you most likely to forget?

👇 Follow the road to Stop 3 in our Québec Road Stories with Ole.

Ole and Danielle’s Fraserway RV journey continues northeast along Route 132, leaving the Bas-Saint-Laurent behind as the landscape becomes wilder and the St. Lawrence opens into the Gulf.

From Ole’s Road Trip Diary:

“From Kamouraska, Route 132 heads northeast, following the St. Lawrence until the river becomes the Gulf and the horizon suddenly feels enormous. We leave behind the gentle farmlands of the Bas-Saint-Laurent for an increasingly harsh, cloud-shrouded coastline.

From now on, the sea is always right there, most of the time just beyond the guardrail. Lighthouses and small fishing harbours in rocky coves, and the occasional fishing boats heading out for shrimp and lobster, make it clear: This is not a road built for tourists. It is a road people actually live along.

It’s not too early to say: Route 132 deserves a place beside Canada’s great scenic drives, but not because it resembles them.

Nova Scotia’s Cabot Trail has its Celtic soul and dramatic Cape Breton Highlands. Alberta’s Icefields Parkway delivers the Rocky Mountain blockbusters. Route 132 plays a different game.

Less alpine spectacle, more Atlantic vastness. Less polished panorama, more lived-in landscape. Less ‘look at that!’ and more ‘how can this possibly go on like this?’

And that, frankly, is the magic.”

Along the way, Ole and Danielle slow down for Sainte-Flavie’s Route des Arts, the Matane Lighthouse and Maritime Museum, and an overnight stay at Camping Bord de la mer in Cap-Chat.

Next stop: Parc national de la Gaspésie.
