Throughout the summer, have you been diligently topping off your Mercruiser gear oil reservoir, yet remain uncertain about the origin of the leak? The input shaft seal is the most prevalent failure point, leading to the drive bellows becoming filled with gear oil. To prevent severe damage, it is vital to have your sterndrive re-sealed during the off-season. Furthermore, drive units will undergo pressure testing before being reinstalled on the boat.
