βGood evening,
I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you this evening! After nearly 11 years of successful operation, I am pleased to announce that Wicked Watersport Rentals Inc. is in the process of transitioning to a new owner here in Lakeland.
Wicked Watersport Rentals has been proud to provide safe, fun, and memorable watersport experiences for both the Lakeland community and visitors. From paddle boards, pedal boats and kayaks to our Flyboard Jetpack experience at Kinosoo Beach, along with boat rentals at Cold Lake Marina, our company has become a trusted ambassador for tourism in the area. Throughout the challenges of the pandemic, we were fortunate to introduce many Albertans to the waters of Cold Lake for the first time, and since then, weβve seen many return to enjoy its waters again.
Our collaborations with The City of Cold Lake, Community Futures Lakeland, the past Rural Alberta Business Centre, The Cold Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, Go East of Edmonton, Travel Alberta, and numerous local businesses and non-profits have played a crucial role in enhancing tourism in our region. Wicked Watersport Rentals has always been proud to champion networking and partnership to help bring more visitors to our beautiful area.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the City of Cold Lake Mayor and Council for their support over the past 11 years. From our grand opening over a decade ago, when the current Mayor and members of City Council, the Cold Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the business community gathered to support our ribbon cutting on the beach, to delegations and meetings to expand tourism opportunities into the area, your support has been invaluable. Your trust in the business and its growth has been deeply appreciated, and I here to humbly ask and encourage you to extend the same level of support to the new owner as you have so graciously offered me over the years.
It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce Mr. Rob Ealey as the new owner of Wicked Watersport Rentals, as well as Kinosoo Ice Shack Rentals. Rob, the Manager the owner of Clarkβs General Store & Eatery and Manager of the Pourhouse, Marina Bowling, and Hacks at the Cold Lake Golf & Winter Club, brings a wealth of experience and a forward-thinking vision that will undoubtedly elevate Wicked Watersports to new heights. I have every confidence that under his leadership, the company will continue to grow and bring exciting new watersport experiences that will enhance tourism in our community.
Lastly, I am excited to announce, alongside the sale of Wicked Watersport Rentals along with my recent retirement from the Royal Canadian Air Force after nearly 25 years of service, that I am officially declaring my candidacy for the 2025 municipal election this October. My military service, business experience and entrepreneurial spirit will be beneficial to continue to serve the community I love in a very new, exciting and worthwhile way.
In closing, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Mayor, City Council, and city staff for all of your unwavering support throughout the years. I look forward to the possibility of working together again with many of you in the near future.
Thank you.β
