We are aware of fraudulent text messages that appear to come from a government organization that reference updates to driver's licences and health care cards.

These messages are scams.

If you receive one:

✅ Don't click any links

✅ Don't share personal or financial information

✅ Delete the message

The Government of Alberta will never send unsolicited text messages asking for personal or financial information. If you're unsure whether a message is legitimate, visit alberta.ca directly instead of clicking a link in a text message.

Please be aware there will be a provice wide system update! We are encouraging Albertans requiring a driver's license and ID to visit us before June 26th or after July 1st. We will be closing June 30th at 2pm for province wide undates. Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Starting July 2, 2026, your driver’s licence and identification (ID) cards get a new design and added features. These updates will provide stronger protection against identity fraud and offer simpler, more secure access to services.

Alberta driver’s licence and identification (ID) cards will feature an enhanced design, additional information and security features.
