Trying something different in this 2022 Jeep Wrangler. For this custom leather installation, we removed the factory cloth and installed classic black leather with silver stitching and custom diamond patterns on the wings. We installed this one in our Surrey shop this week and it looks gorgeous.

Is there anything better than new custom leather?

We're not sure, but maybe new custom leather in a super special Jeep Gladiator might be! We installed this beautiful design for White Rock Dodge and Casey_250 into their beautiful 2022 Jeep Gladiator build, named the Demonator.

This design features the Katzkin XT leather in black, Citrus orange stitching, custom hexagon inserts, and a very custom logo embroidered on the front backrests. 's XT leather is their strongest leather, made to stand up to heavier wear and tear, like the kind you get when you go off-roading

There are a few reasons a leather interior might be something to consider...

1. Better than seat covers: When done well, aftermarket leather upholstery looks and feels like it was installed in a factory. No ill fits, no shifting around, no wrinkles.

2. Cheaper than that fancy trim level: Looking at buying a new car but can’t stomach the additional $8,000 – $20,000 for that trim level with the leather upholstery? Aftermarket usually ranges from $1,600 – $4,000 and puts the control of design into your hands.

3. Increases resale value: A nice interior factors in when you’re trying to sell your car and it can make a big difference in how much a person is willing to pay when buying used.

Did you know that "Genuine Leather" isn't truly leather... well kind of...

There's a variety of different types of leather available to consumers and they all have different levels of durability and uses. There are also lots of different terms thrown around and it can be confusing! So we summarized the important ones for you here:

1. Genuine Leather: When there is at least 20% leather present in a product. Genuine leather is composed of multiple bonded layers of low-quality leather, think of it as the plywood or particle board version of leather.
2. Top Grain Leather: Found in most products, including automotive leather. It’s made by splitting a hide, reducing any imperfections, and then stamping it with a new grain pattern.
3. Full Grain Leather: The highest possible quality of the leather (depending on use). Has the original grain, including imperfections. Full-grain is typically not used for automotive because it is too thick and uncomfortable.
4. Automotive Leather: Typically made of top grain leather treated to withstand the wear and tear of automotive use.
5. Vegan Leather: Either an automotive vinyl (plastic) or in some cases made from plant or other renewable/biodegradable materials. In most cases, vegan leather isn’t more environmentally friendly because plastic sticks around much longer than leather, but it can reduce the use of the cattle industry.
6. Leatherette, Synthetic Leather, Imitation Leather are all Vinyl. Automotive vinyl is specifically made to withstand the wear and tear of regular vehicle use and Marine Vinyl is made to withstand marine usage.

We and our suppliers use a mix of automotive leather and vinyl to provide a product that's both durable and affordable. Typically vinyl is used on the side and rear panels (like the map pockets) and Leather is used on the facing and high-wear areas to provide the best durability.
