TAG Auto Center – How We Got Started

In the Summer of 2007, a fire at Big O Tire (next to the A&W) in Chase, B.C., left a void for tire seeking customers in that area. Two mechanics (across the parking lot) watched the building disappear in flames and smoke. After much discussion and deliberation they purchased a couple of hoists and ordered a tire machine and balancer. With these p

ieces of equipment and some resourceful bargaining, they set up shop in the exact building they had watched the fire from. Today, after a lot of work and Alan McMillan bringing on Ken Nunweiler as an owner, TAG Auto Center has become a successful full time mechanical vehicle and commercial truck repair facility. A few years later, the B.C. Provincial Government qualified TAG Auto and endorsed it as a Private and Commercial Vehicle Inspection Facility (CVSE). Both Alan and Ken, who share the ownership of TAG Auto Center, are certified heavy duty and automotive mechanics. Both have diesel engine experience and are mechanical technicians. It’s been an interesting journey over the last 8 years for this family run business. Trudene McMillan has been a contributing factor, doing the accounting side of the business from her office at home. The growth of TAG Auto Center has been increasing ongoing and Ken has begun to spend more time on the floor as a technician, troubleshooting and repairing. As a result, Trude has started to drive to the shop to help with paper work and phone duties there. Roy joined as a tire specialist early in the life of TAG Auto Center and taught both Ken and Alan many of the tricks that make this a successful tire and repair business. With a combined 50 years of mechanical experience to draw from, we are always learning and keeping up with leading edge computerized technology of today. We are excited to be part of Chase, B.C. and contribute to helping the people of Chase and the surrounding communities extend the life of their vehicles. We have an active 29 point inspection program that comes complimentary with an oil change. It’s our all inclusive preventative maintenance program and our way of giving back to the Customers who support us, to help them prevent failures where possible.
