ELEVEN POINTS. FOUR CONTENDERS. TWO RACES. ONE CHAMPION.
The battle for the Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stock championship is ON! With two events remaining - just five days apart - FOUR contenders are separated by just 11 points!
The youngest of the bunch is in charge. Reigning Rookie of the Year Devin Gallant ( #36, Rustico) has emerged as the division's most consistent driver since two early-season DNFs, and would hold a commanding +19 lead if not for his Piston Cup 100 disqualification (loss of 15 show points).
Three veterans with a combined FIVE championships in this division alone are hunting him down - could the penalty come back to haunt him, or can he hang on over what could be the biggest week of his racing career?
Defending champion Matthew Ford ( #86, Ellerslie) is right behind him. After having the target on his back last year, Ford now finds himself as the hunter, looking to become the division's first back-to-back champion since Amanda Wheatley (2017 & 2018).
But a "SnowStorm" is brewing. Father and son Kenny and Brandon Snow ( #7, Oyster Bed Bridge) have shared the ride this season, with their combined effort - led by Kenny's five starts - putting the team firmly in the championship fight. After bouncing back from major Piston Cup 100 damage with a strong points day and a runner-up finish last weekend, can the biggest "SnowStorm" PEI has ever seen take over these next two events?
And don't count out three-time champion Nick Chaisson ( #27). One more title ties the all-time record of four, currently held by both Gerald MacQuarrie and Stephen Gass. Chaisson has shown flashes of speed as he continues adapting to his upgraded hot rod. Could he peak at exactly the right time?
Who’s your pick? Could Randy Millar, Darrell Ford, Colton Ford, Campbell Stewart, or others throw a wrench into the top-four battle – or pull off a championship shocker over the next week?!
Let’s hear your thoughts ahead of the penultimate round this Monday, September 7th at 2 PM! DON’T MISS THIS SHOWDOWN AND THE NEXT!
