Customer wanted his John Deere D160 tuned up. We changed the oil and filter along with the air filter (added filter grease) and spark plugs. Tightened up the muffler that was loose, fuel filter, greased all the fittings, put air in the tires, cleaned it up and dropped it off. He’s looking to sell this machine with only 139hrs on it as a package deal with a John Deere 600lbs dump trailer and dethatcher, if interested please message me.

I’ve got a Scott branded mower in the shop, John Deere sold under their label. The customer said the engine runs away when it starts and can’t be throttled. I suspected a governor spring but was surprised to see the throttle valve had come loose and was in the air intake. The two screws that secure it were MIA. I ended up taking the valve cover and head off to try and find them so they didn’t end up in the cylinder. Removed the oil drain tube and fished the casing with a magnet to try and find them. Based on what the cylinder showed and the brass shimmer in the oil I’d say they were pounded into sand. New head gasket, all bolts torqued to spec and it’s back together waiting for the special order screws for the throttle valve.

I had a a mini excavator come in, brand new, in a no start condition. This has a Briggs and Stratton 430cc engine in it, like a riding lawn mower, very cool! The gentlemen who owns it knows his way around a machine for sure but no time to get it going and had things to get done today, which gave me the chance to get it going for him. Very cool machine!

Had a Certified brand generator come in yesterday for a broken 120v 20amp recepticale. The machine had 821 hrs on it and started on the first pull. These guys took good care of their machine! They asked for a rushed job to get them back to work and got it turned around in delivered in 24 hrs.

I did my best to get them running and some weather coverage with no time for ordering parts.

This morning I picked up an older Poulan chainsaw in a no run condition. It now runs and seems to have plenty of power. Will need some finer adjustments to the carb and a nice cleaning and will be available for sale. Keep an eye out for this deal.

Today I had a Champion 1500/2000W generator in ROUGH shape that needs a carb job, air box and the spark plug threads were destroyed by the last person to “Tune it up”. The hole was drilled out, taped and a new steel sleeve installed. The steel threads will keep it from stripping out again.

Once the threads were in I found the spark plug was improperly gapped and the fuel line was bad. Both were fixed and it was running shortly after.
